Mike Wahle says hello to this discussion on Underachievers

Not sure he underachieved so much as was a little overpaid. I'd consider Jason Peter a candidate for this list, thogh he also had some injuries. If we're going to go off of draft placement, Chuck Wiley, Mitch Marrow, and Attiyah Ellison all come to mind as well. I beleive Peter, Wiley, and Marrow were all a part of the same draft class... take note Hurney-haters.

I'm not calling you a pussy for saying it, I'm saying it's in bad taste.

I'm not defending it or agreeing with it. Just saying, this is the way of the internet.

Most fans only wanted Jeff to succeed and be apart of this teams success. Yes there are a few who will make it personal and go overboard, but we invested a lot in him and we could not force him to WANT to be the elite RT we know he can be. I can understand the frustration.

I would say that we should have tried to get rid of him sooner, but his knee has been done for the past 2 years...

2 positives I see:

1.) We can move forward with Bell as our RT

2.) Now we have a 1st round "stain" for Hurney's perfect 1st round BS peeps like to overrate him with

2. ) When Otah played, he was Pro Bowl caliber. So he still hit on talent in a talent driven league. Judging a man's heart for the game is tricky.

Peppers another example. He could of retired and attempted to make a NBA roster and it wouldn't of been a complete blindside. Talent was there though....still is.

I seem to remember reading an article about Otah right after we drafted him and it said that he actually was more interested in basketball, but he chose to play football because he was good at it.

I dunno, it just seems like the guy didn't really make as much of an effort to fight through injuries to be out there. With guys like Beason and Davis you hear them talk about how hard it is for them to be on the sidelines when their team needs them, but you don't hear that kinda stuff from Otah.

That being said, he's gone and this is mostly just speculation. I wish him well unless he plays against the Panthers.

Interview with Hurney about Otah on Panthers.com. Said Otah "Didn't feel like he could go" and "He doesn't feel like he has gotten over the injuries of the last 2 season." Call me crazy, but could you see Beason or TD saying anything like that?

Having been lucky enough to avoid injury myself, I have no idea how bad his knee feels to him. If he cannot go, so be it.

NO! I could not see many guys going out that way. It would be more of a #$#&(^$ attitude. Drag them off the field kicking and screaming type of thing. Ok, maybe a little classier than that, but the idea is the same. They worked too damm hard to go out without a fight.

Damm Otah. Ruined what had been a great off-season. Wait... Mr. Bell says tata Otah.
