Secondary Concerns

Not overly thrilled with the cuts of some of our Seconday players. Namely at CB. We absolutely MUST stay healthy back there. We have zero depth. If there's one weakness on this team (besides ST's) it's our secondary.

Especially being in our division I think that we failed to address this area in a big way. I would not feel this way at all had Hogan not been put on the IR...

Something isn't adding up, I don't know what it is, but I think I smell a move in the very near future. If not by the opener I'd expect to see a new face one way or another by week 2.

Something just isn't sitting right with me on this...

Top 3 CB's to be released IMHO are Dominique Franks Released by ATL , Drayton Florence released by Denver and Joselio Hanson released by Philly.

Word is were not looking at Hanson. But, those appear to be the options right now.

It would not suprise me in the slightest if we brought in a veteran like Florence, Franks has talent and is young, but youth is not our problem in the secondary.

I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't be opposed to giving away a 4th or 5th rounder to grab a young-ish CB that has been productive. Particularly ones on bad teams, or ones that are nearing the end of their contract and might like to get out of a crappy city. Maybe someone like Derek Cox for the Jags, Antoine Cason of the Chargers, or one of the Seahawks corners. I don't know, feel free to suggest any other people or shoot down my idea entirely like i am sure some of you will.

    • You're an idiot if you truly think that
    • Donovan is going to be a terrible hire
    • Fantastic post. But if the draft was purely analytical everyone would know the next pick. There’s projection there. Mauigoa has started every game of his career, Freeling has 17 career starts. It’s totally a gamble to pick Freeling, but you do it because he has reps out there that are perfect and the frame and athleticism are perfect although his experience and play to date are far from perfect.    Proctor, for me, still has a level to unlock. He needs to drop another 20-30. He’s played transfer games with Alabama, an incredibly unserious football program in its current state. There’s an insurance policy there as well that he could work out a guard if he doesn’t work at tackle. If Proctor is picked at 19, he has a chance to compete for a starting gig, he’s got 4 tool ability.
