If the S really HTF in the real world, most of you would be eating each other before you see the first sunset...

God damn talk about overreaction...

Last night's pathetic display of football was a joint effort.

The play calling was shitty. The blocking was shitty. The defense was shitty. Special teams was poo. Team morale is shitty. Blah blah blah.

I'm no optimist, but holy poo. Really... Holy poo people. Get it together.

Cam Newton is going to be (and already is in some aspects) one of the premier QBs in the league. Steve Smith is one of the greatest WRs of all time. Ron Rivera can be a good coach.

We're 1 and fuging 2 with a ten day break to get our collective poo together. We did alright last year with a lot less in some areas and I still think, despite last night's showing, we're on the way up.

Sure, we might not be worthy of much praise right now, and are getting some well deserved recognition for how horrible we can be... But the only thing that continues to matter is our potential to be great.

I don't want our team to forget that, despite how quick some of you are to do it.

So, calm the fug down.

All the negative energy is a complete and total overreaction to a situation that isn't nearly as dire as some of you pessimists want to believe.

If any of you wonder why some people just lurk and never post, like myself? It's because of the adolecent litter box this place has become. Not much subtance to be found, only torches and pitchforks. You know why? Because that is the easy thing to do, it takes no effort.

Responses of memes and gifs. A kindergatern party where everyone awards each other a gold star for their 'magnificant and insigtful' commentary based on slovenly efforts of one-upmanship with each reply. It's as if the call of duty in game chat was logged and pasted here.

When this board starts to provide insightful and meaningful discussions again (2008), I may particiapte. Until then I like being amused with the funny pages. Chuckle a minute.

I guess its just a product of following other teams who have been in this situation, but this really isnt that bad. Iv been a 'Canes fan since before i can remember and i always think back to the Butch Davis era and how some fans acted. The game that stands out was the Syracuse game in which the Canes got absolutely embarrassed to the tune of 66-13. I wasnt even really old enough to know what was truly going on, i just remember EVERYONE despising Butch Davis after that game. The very next game, the Hurricanes upset then #2 UCLA and things went up from there.

Obviously the circumstances are different but still, this org has a new regime, give them a little time. This team was as thin on talent as you could possibly get in this league when Rivera took over. There is no miracle turn around, we arent the 49ers, we dont have nearly the talent they did. I think some people. for whatever reason, thought this was going to be a quick turn around. We hit the rebuild button people. 3-5 years minimum.

    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
    • There's a reason Greg Maddux was never a flamethrower but still one of the most feared pitchers of all time, because accuracy beats velocity far more often then vice versa. Once you exceed a certain minimum capability, you can thrive with extreme traits elsewhere, its not strictly about power in any sport but powerlifting.
