I remember when a chipmunk got caught under our porch, my two dogs ended up cornering it and when it tried to run out they ended up both biting it and ripping it in half....it was actually pretty depressing.

Mine killed two baby bunny rabbits in consecutive days a week or two ago. I thought it was one of her toys the first time. Threw that one away and the next day she had one on my bed. Like you said, kinda depressing, but I couldn't get mad at her. She was just being a dog.

There was a German Shepard (mascot) at a large military compound I pulled guard duty at back in the day. He would chase down all sorts of furry rodents and toss them in the air and then catch them. He continued to play "catch the rodent" until the animals became unresponsive. Pretty gruesome way to go if you are a rodent. It might be surprising to some, but the dog, Arthur, was the nicest animal in all other respects.

He wasn't the only one, saw two adult Orcas and a calf repeatedly tossing a sea otter up in the air last summer for several minutes until the otter finally disappeared under the waves.

None of these perps likely have moral issues with their behavior.

Sad thing is, some humans pull this kind of crap or worse and don't give it a moments thought.
