Jason Phillips?

Preseason mean absolutly nothing.

There is a reason Kuechly look a lot better in the preseason. And once the opposition has one full games film of Phillps they we expoilt him badly. There is a reason he is a back-up and not a starter.

That being said, he looks like a solid player in that role, but I think that´s it.

I don't think that's true at all. He's a try-hard, tough linebacker that is his best playing downhill, sure. But he actually is quicker and faster than Connor in coverage. If he had to start, he could hold his own. He has the physical ability and just now seems to be developing in the mental aspect of the game.

I think you're speaking from a homer standpoint. If you're basing his performance off of preseason, Kuechly who is a much better player than Phillips played great also. Look at Kuechly in a real game.

Phillips would be one of those guys with double digit tackles after each game, but when you look at the film you know why and how he ended up with those tackles. He's nothing special.

Yeah...because there was no one else out there that could run down and tackle defenders. Beason and Davis show up...Kuechly looks like a rookie again.

Never said he was special. Just better than Connor. Connor is the definitive "meh" as a player. Phillips has higher upside due to his speed.

Why have Luke play his natural position? When he can stay outside.

Look for Tony G. to have all grades of fun over the middle, either because of the safety play or this move.

Dnt kidd yourself. Phillips is no starter in this league. Start him one game and the huddle is going to end up having 10 different threads of how bad Phillips is.

Mind as well start all the backups then if people already panicking over Beason. Nothing's wrong with Beaston. Quit overreacting.

Phillips wouldn't be able to drop back and cover his grandma. He's a poor man D. Connor.

We would only start Phillips at MLB for a couple of reasons.

Reason #1: Beason is inactive. An active Beason would never be benched for Phillips.

Reason #2: The "loyalty" that has resulted in all of these questionable contract extensions is rearing its head on the depth chart. Despite Kuechly's long-term NFL projection being his natural and original position, the position he played in college when he was on pace to shatter the NCAA record books is being occupied by a player that has been all pro for us in the past. It may not be so much about not wanting to move Kuechly inside as it is not wanting to move Beason outside. The loyal coaches and managers just aren't ready to make the move. I think the time is now.

Luke is white. I doubt there would be an uproar if he started at Mike. What does race have to do with anything?

I don't think Phillips starting at MLB is the best choice. Yes he was good in preseason, but that was preseason against mostly 2nd-4th stringers. I don't see the downside to having Kuechly at his natural position and Davis at the weakside starting with Senn in rotation for just 1 game.
