Stewart probable, Davis and Beason questionable vs. Falcons

Running back Jonathan Stewart will likely take the field for the first time since Sept. 16 when the Panthers play at Atlanta on Sunday.

Stewart is listed as probable on the Panthers' injury report Friday along with CB Chris Gamble, S/ST Colin Jones, T Byron Bell and DE Thomas Keiser.

Listed as questionable for the Panthers are three top defensive players. LB Thomas Davis participated fully in practice Friday after suffering a calf injury that kept him out of last Thursday's game versus the Giants.

DE Greg Hardy is questionable after he broke his thumb early in the Giants' game. Head coach Ron Rivera said Hardy's hand will likely be wrapped fully for the game.

Starting MLB Jon Beason has dealt with shoulder and knee injuries since before the Giants' game. He said Beason's soreness tomorrow after Friday's practice will play a big role in his status for Sunday.

"He looked good,"Rivera said of Beason at Friday's practice. "Mentally he was in it and that’s the best part. He stayed Monday, Wednesday, Thursday. He stayed in it so when he came out (to practice), the limited reps he took were spot-on so that’s a huge plus."

Listed as out is G Mike Pollak (shoulder) and doubtful is DE Antwan Applewhite (knee).

I'd be comfortable with a starting line up of Anderson, Keek, and TD and let Beason rest up this week and potentially next week as well, then it's the bye.

I have a man crush on Beast, but when he's playing with various injuries just a year removed from that serious Achilles injury, well I'd rather him get fully healed and we field a more capable LB unit.

I admire his heart, but his play against the vaGiants hurt himself and the team.

I'm also very concerned about Hardy and Applewhite potentially missing this game. Our pass rush is bad enough as it is, but without a decent rotation, our fatigued-looking DEs might get worn out even faster than normal...

Something tells me that McDermott has been given an ultimatium/serious a** chewing, and we'll see more press coverage and blitzing, much may help us or prove your point about us wearing down quicker.( Or I suppose it's me wanting a do or die/go for broke mindset).

Congrats...very intelligent, in depth analysis of you.

Was that a terrible attempt at sarcasm or did you actually think that quick little tidbit was an 'in depth analysis?

    • yeah, I can get a little of that.  But that's not what he is posting in his argument just now though.   He said people wouldn't even concede to the literal ability to do it when pressed on the literal ability.  I have never seen that.  He maintains it exists somewhere.  I mean, using anomaly games to make arguments about players just isn't the way.   There wasn't a defender within 10 yards of our guys on 2 of those 3 throws Sunday.  No one within 5 on the 3rd.   That's not Bryce Young answering questions about his play downfield..  That's Bryce Young taking advantage of coverage busts by a bad D.  Which hey, that's part of the game too.  Recognition and seeing the field.   It can't totally be dismissed.   That's still good play.  You want your QBs to make those plays.  But it's not getting into the long standing critique of BY IMO.
    • Deserved, I wouldn’t use that word. Asked for? For sure. Am I upset over it? No.  People forget that AT was throwing his helmet in frustration last season over his QB’s ineptitude. The same QB was pretty inept to start this year, no guarantee AT would have helped him in those games any more than he did last year.  Just sayin.  And Dan doing him a solid probably did not go unnoticed by players around the league. I think it increases his rep with potential FAs. It sure can’t hurt it.
    • You think that was the fault of the guy that was lighting it up or maybe the bums around him? Funnily enough, those bums are still being bums in his absence. Who would have thought!
