A different look at the mighty Falcons

To be fair, Manning also simply isn't Manning and SD didn't flat out shoot themselves in the foot. Some turnovers are great defensive play.....some are an offense. Atl has taken advantage of some gifts. They get credit for taking advantage of them.....but they have been given a lot thus far.

And most of Cams INTs are the fault of the offense and not the defense playing well.

Still doesn't bode well for our team.

Most of Cams INTs have came when we were down and passing was the only option. The D has total advantage at that point. We cannot get to far behind in this game and become one dimensional. Dlo, Stewart and controlling the clock are key. Keep the Foulcunts O on the sidlines...we win!

Falcons have scored 94 points in 3 games and all the talk locally and nationally is how can Carolina possibly keep up.

Well, lets look at some of those scores....

32 yard TD drive

29 yard TD drive

1 yard TD drive

24 yard FG drive

8 yard FG drive

7 yard TD drive

31 yard FG drive

8 yard FG drive

That is 40 pts in 3 games.....bc the offense was given the ball in their opponents territory. No offense in the NFL has started as many drives on the opponents side of the field.

How do we beat Atl? Simple, they aren't as scary as hyped....opponents have made things easy on Atl. Don't give the offense a short field. Make noodle arm drive the field. Make him use the noodle and make the stone handed WRs go the length of the field.

Team has to show up early.....if they don't Cam will go into desperation mode and play into the biggest factor in the Falcons fast start. Carolina CAN outscore them. But we have to make Atl earn there points.

It was nice of you to omit the long TD drives we had to start ALL 3 games this season. Not to mention the two 8+ minute drives last week against San Diego.

As Rubi put it, the point of this thread wasn't to talk about ALL of ATL's scoring drives, but to focus on their opportunistic ones. What CRA is saying is that we can't afford to gift the Falcons a short field, as they have easily taken advantage of such circumstances. We have to take care of the football and try to make Matty Ryan attempt to drive the field.

He's not saying your team can't drive the field, cuz obviously they have, but we can't afford to gift you guys points.

they have nothing to fo with the point being made. Point is, Atlanta's offense has started more drives in opposing territory than any team in the NFL.

Atlanta gets credit for cashing in on all but one of those opportunities. But fact remains, that offense has had it very easy. Point is Carolina has to make them earn all there points.....which teams haven't done thus far. Atl is averaging about 3 drives per game starting in opposing territory.....which is kind of comical.

Atlanta is #1 in the NFC for for interceptions (7) and #5 for sacks (7) Source: http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?archive=false&conference=0015&role=OPP&offensiveStatisticCategory=null&defensiveStatisticCategory=SACKS&season=2012&seasonType=REG&tabSeq=2&qualified=true&Submit=Go

Not trying to be pessimistic, and I SERIOUSLY hate how hyped the Falcons are, but these numbers don't lie.

Panthers have a knack for giving up good field position to the opponent. With our special teams situation it is always a possibility that the opponent will have a short field.

It says something about their defense and ST that they have managed to give Ryan and Co. Such a clear advantage.

This is very useful info though and it does make crystal clear that playing mistake free on the road is our best bet for winning. It is a stat that a good head coach can build a gameplay around. Put them in a position to have to go 80 plus yards and hope your D doesn't tire too quickly or that they make an error.

Question is: do RR and McD know this and if so what will they do with it?

It comes back to double teaming JJ, containing Turner, and running the ball from a power formation. If these things happen and we don't turn the ball over, we can win this game.

Falcon Fan here.... Post like this are made to make fans feel better about the game a day before the game.... Facts are Matt Ryan are leading the league in TD (8 TD's) , and QBR thru 3 games ...Dude is balling.

Its a division game so im looking for it to be a close good game.... The Browns gave the ravens all they can handle... Division opponents know each other. So im looking for this to be a close game.
