Beason likely headed to IR

Not much of a surprise. As DeMeco Ryans can attest to, it seems to take 18-24 months to fully recover from an achilles tear. I just wonder if Beason will get that chance with the Panthers. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't unless he's willing to restructure that deal.

T-Sizzle didn't get the memo.

T-Sizzle didn't get the memo.

Suggs only had a partial tear, not a complete tear like Ryans and Beason:

"We do a conditioning test every year, and I was practicing it," Suggs said in a text to Wilson. "I went to stop and turn and I thought I sprained it. Went to doc and said it's a partial tear."

it's not his achilles.

it's his knee.

different injury.

That doesn't mean that the knee injury isn't a direct result of overstressing caused by coming back from the achilles injury faster than he should have. The same thing happens to guys who have ankle injuries, rush back, and end up with hamstring problems. They're probably related and the knee is probably not going to be better until his achilles is healed properly.

He was back at superhuman speed from a full achilles tear - man needed more time. IR should allow him to have it.

Unrelated to the post I quoted: This team, of all the teams in the world, certainly shouldn't be calling his career over after we saw TD do what he's doing.

F**k all the team jerseys I have have gone to sh**. Steve Smith (blue) getting old, Beason (black) may never be the same again, DWill (white) may get traded. I need a whole new set of jerseys of each color!

Beason was my favorite player :(

This is a marketing ploy to sell more jerseys

Where are all of the posters who were claiming that Beason was super human and woudl come back better than ever in less than a year? I seem to recall there were DOZENS of them.

And Beason at 80% is better than every other lb at 100%.

But I saw a youtube video where he ran back and forth and I know for a FACT he is 100% right now!

I don't buy that. Even the worst team can be turned around in 2 years max with the right moves. A good draft or two while sprinkling in a couple mid-priced FA's, and good coaching on both sides of the ball, can work wonders.

If it takes 5 years, we're doing it wrong.

Maybe I was caught in the moment there.. 2-3 years can do it but with 4-5 big contracts who are not playing anywhere close to their contracts we are some years away.

Ron Rivera says LB Jon Beason needs knee and shoulder surgeries. Said knee is unrelated to Beason's repaired Achilles.

    • Dan has done a good enough job on this roster we’re in a decent spot to just take BPA at any of our positions of need. I imagine we resign Nijman regardless
    • I don’t much care if Rico leaves, I only ever saw it as a one year stay.  I feel like we can go into camp with what we have minus Rico plus Brooks. If Brooks doesn’t look good enough early to compliment Chuba, there will be guys out there to fill in. And we don’t know what Etienne will look like, maybe he can step up and we won’t need as much to take up Brooks’ slack.  I suppose the long shot outcome is Brooks looks great and then you are down to whether you want to trust the repair job holding up.  the main thing to me is to take care of the OL because they are your run game.
