When I list the dead money, I am referring to the remaining signing bonuses that will hit the cap. You can take the hit all in 1 year or spread it over 2 if you desginate them a june 1st cut.I don't personally condone cutting all of these guys but heres our highest paid players and their scheduled cap hits and how much it would cost to cut them(dead money)

To understand the net cap hit of cutting each indvidual take their total cap hit - minus the dead money. You can spread it over 2 years(thanks rocknrolla) but whatever number you see listed in parentheses is the amount that would take an immediate hit next to the year listed. Then the remaining numbers in parentheses would come off in the 2nd year. Scroll down and see Rocknrolla's example of spreading CJ'S cap hit over 2 years for more clarification.

Here is the scheduled cap hits by year, numbers in parenthese are guaranteed amount for that year.

Just to correct you here, when you designate a June 1st cut it doesn't cut the cap hit in half for the two years, you take the normal cap hit for the first year and then the entire remainder the following year.

For example, if Charles Johnson was designated a June 1st cut the 2013 dead money cap hit would be $6 million, and the remainder ($12 million) would hit in 2014.

Why cut Ron? He is basically playing for vet minimum and we are getting solid production. Cutting him opens up another big hole at DT.

Unfortunately, I see Williams out the door for sure. I think everyone else stays. Beason, Gamble, and Gross are MUCH too valuable to let loose.

    • I have been looking for a dropped pass list and all that comes up is QBs. And team stats. When I do receivers I get the passing stats for a handful that threw passes this year.    I wanted to be accurate but anyhow I was looking because thought I remembered reading where T Mac had more drops than XL this year.  One of you many smarter than me people here,I would appreciate it if you know how to pull that up, please do. Thank you.    And yeah I know that isn’t all there is to it I just thought it was interesting.  Of course what the hell is a drop lol.
    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
