15th Ranked Defense

I am honestly enjoying watching our defense. Take away the Giants game and the 4th quarter of the Falcons game I have been extremely impressed. They are young, fast, and getting better. If we can get the proper coaching and another top 10 pick, we are on our way to having a very solid D. I love our DE threesome of CJ, Hardy, and Alexander. We need a few DT's. Davis, Anderson, Kuechly, and hopefully a healthy Beason can be built around. Then hopefully Gamble comes back strong along with an improving Norman. With the right GM and Coaching, our D isn't far.

They are definitely getting better. I wonder how much of that has to do with Rivera's more hands on approach with the D from last year? With keuchly taking up the beasting in the middle, we've done nothing but improve and I see them getting even better as the season goes on.

What sucks is that at the end of last season and all off season..I said if we had a middle of pack defense with this offense we were playoff bound. WOW facepalm I couldnt of been more wrong.

It is awesome to not see our D ranked 28or 29th as usual.

i still credit that prediction. you didn't know chud was going to go all bat poo crazy on us. no one can predict that. he finally stops doing it in the chi game, and we were in it until the last 3 seconds [and that's with giving chi the ball at the 45-50 yard line every time].

    • And really, it should be 4 reasons with the last one being that there were ZERO other offensive weapons on that team in 2024, opposing defenses only had to worry about one player all year long and they constantly double and triple teamed him right off the snap all season.  In 2023, we still had Jacob Cowing who had 90 catches that year and was drafted by the 49ers last year, so teams couldn't just send everyone after T-Mac on every passing down.
    • I wonder if the Hornets view Kon and McNeeley more as forwards and plan to ship off Green/Okogie/Smith for center help. I hope they don’t plan to ship off Sexton as I like what he brings to the team. (2) G - Ball, Mann, Simpson (two-way) (3) G - Sexton, Dinwiddie, Connaughton (3) F - Miller, Knueppel, McNeeley, James (two-way) (3) F - Bridges, Williams, Salaun (3) C - Diabate, Kalkbrenner, Plumlee
    • 3 main reasons he was better in 2023 and none of them concern me for his NFL prospects 1. Totally new coaching staff that was a massive downgrade and had god awful play calling and designs, the entire fan base was ready to run the coaching staff out of town a month into their first season and the play caller ended up getting changed because it was so bad. 2. Along with the staff downgrade, his QB played significantly worse after being the Pac 12 Freshman of the Year in 2023.  Constantly missed T-Mac when he was wide open, lost out on a number of TDs and a good amount of yardage, half the time T-Mac still almost made miraculous catches on the bad passes too. 3. He hurt his ankle over the summer and missed all of fall camp only to return to practice a few days before the season started and I think he had to deal with it all season long and was slightly limping at times mid season too, but kept fighting through it to still be a 1st team All American.
