Geology

Take him to Reed Gold Mine. Go to a hobby shop and see what they have. You can also find a local gem/mineral club (there is one in Charlotte) and they will probably have some great suggestions.

(and I've completely looked past the fact that you think geology is nerdy) :)

Ditto the geode. Pretty cool

Good friend of mine is a geologist with the NCENR department. Took my boy who's shown an interest to the natural history museum. He gave us a geode and it was fun busting it open. Cool stuff out there.

Scorea (sic?) is pretty neat...a floating "rock"

I know people. I'll ask them.

I'd say get him a rock pick and a sledge hammer, but he's probably still a little too young for that. When I used to visit the place I now work when I was a kid, I always thought it'd be cool to have a rock pick (they used to sell them in the gift shop).

Best thing would probably be to set him up with a field geologist for a day or something.

You could get him a metal detector and take him meteorite hunting.

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
