Rivera says there could be changes to the OLine

The Panthers' offensive line struggled to contain the Broncos' pass rush, allowing a season-high seven sacks, and Rivera said there could be lineup changes coming.

"We're going to look at different things we can do with personnel," Rivera said.

One of the players waiting for his first opportunity of the season is tackle Bruce Campbellicon-article-link.gif. Acquired in an offseason trade with Oakland, Campbell played guard during his first two season with the Raiders, but Rivera said he is best suited playing behind Jordan Grossicon-article-link.gif at left tackle.

"Bruce, really his best, most natural position is left tackle," Rivera said. "But we most certainly are going to look at different options."

The left tackle spot has been manned by Gross for the better part of nine seasons, and Rivera praised the work of the team captain.

"Jordan is playing very well," Rivera said. "A lot of that was an avalanche with what happened (on Sunday). He did miss a couple plays, but for the most part, when you watch him and see what he's meant to anchoring that offensive line, it's pretty solid."

About damn time we try and give Cam better protection. Hopefully Jeremy Bridges will step in and help immediately. However, it's so hard to improve an O-Line with truly no good options out there.

I'm gonna laugh so hard at the people who are thinking Campbell is going to be the savior.

I am still laughing at the people who think the OL is what is causing Can's poor play.

Another thread had the stats that showed Cam was in the Top 10 for the QB with the most time in the pocket to pass.

He is so slow on his progressions that 3 step drops are turning into holding the ball for 5 sec.

Guy just is not able to read defenses and go through his progressions quickly. I think he can develop this, but it is a huge weakness of his.

I hate to agree with you but I do to a certain degree.I think the run blocking has been worse.

They looked last week.

Only thing they will consider doing is subbing in a bad G with another.

Gross and Bell are staying put which keeps Campbell out.

What we need to do is line and up run the ball.....stick with it. Real running. Will keep teams from teeing off on them.

    • Good game so far.  Solid trench battles, two young well built defenses, and my 2 fave coaches.  Stafford is really damn good.  SEA OL is overperforming.
    • Okay then. To me that means Russell Wilson was Coryell. Because I see the proposition completely in the Russell Wilson punt/pass put it up for grabs mold. Count on the receiver to catch it or knock it down.    And the reason I thought that was the intent with Legette is the abysmal downfield game from 2023. As in, there was barely any.   I look at it as if… the result of a deep attempt isn’t as important as the opponent understanding they have to defend it. So I was all for some 50/50s. Coryell, Walsh whoever.  I do favor the Coryell approach personally but also very much value versatility, it doesn’t have to be strict. Just make the defense defend the whole field, however you do it. It has to include downfield throws.
    • Sold, or in the process of being sold. Could be either way. Consider this for a second... Last season, our defensive coordinator steered what many have called the worst defense in NFL history.  Canales would absolutely have been justified in firing him, and no one would have blamed him if he had.  But what did he do? He gave Evero another chance to come back and prove he could be better. Does that tell us something about Canales? I think it does. Now apply that to Bryce 😕
