I often take the unpopular stance

CRA

I seriously doubt the JR will allow any GM to part ways with Smith. This is Steve Smiths team to leave.

If Richardson is going to overrule his decisions, what's the point of having a new GM?

Nobody worth having is going to want the job if they know they're gonna be second guessed.

Draft Cam - before it was cool to say

[citation needed]

Draft Luke bc we can't trust Beason and company to all be back
[citation needed]

Don't sign all these RBs bc we won't give them touches to justify it
[citation needed]

Chud is overrated and nothing like what is being pimped- last season when people wanted him as our HC
[citation needed]

I typically get the, "CRA, you are an idiot" for such thoughts......

OP is an idiot until proven otherwise

Will be interesting.....Cam being another example.

Most new GMs/coaches in recent history have brought in a new QB within 3 years pending the one they inherited hasn't won a Superbowl. Richardson has claimed Newton is his last.

What if the new coach was to run a NFL spread like Rodgers, Brady or Brees do.....where the emphasis is on spreading it out and carving up teams? Cam won't ever fit that mold.

I can determine pretty much every boom or bust draft prospect season after season.

Let's run the front office CRA.

I have a Clemson bias....so my team would suck as they all prove me wrong time and time again. Also would skip over Clowney in a couple years bc I hate the Gamecocks.....so I don't think I would excel.

We should trade Smith or force him to retire after this year. Greatest Panther to date....but his time has run its course. He is one of MANY big moves we must start making. We need to move forward....I think as this season progresses that will become more clear. Bash away bc I know the Smitty man love is off the charts.....but his era is over and that era still holding on is one of several big problems IMO.

SO you are saying the eventhough several teams contacted us to see if he was available, we should force him to retire if we cant trade him (for what we see as fair value)?

...You dont think we can use him ANYWHERE on the field? LMAO!

Thank God you will never be a GM!

That kind of explains the whole Hurney for ten years fiasco..... just sayin'

Yes.

And

Yes, you could use him.....but he still will bring his old era issues with him. Not a talent issue about everything else he brings to the table and impact it has on a franchise rebuilding. He isn't Jerry Rice and again I am not talking talent.

look at the last 3 years......2010, 2011, and 2012. At his age, he should be a rock......far from that in 2010 and 2012. When the going gets tough, he makes it tougher too often.

Lots of teams have parted with guys who still had the raw talent to contribute...

I dont disagree with trading him but we cant move him anywhere until he have some kind of replacement. We have consistently proven that we cant draft and develop a guy into a #1. We must acquire a guy we know can play in FA.

Someone like Mike Wallace would be nice

It's unpopular to to say things like this because we have an emotinoal attatchement to Smitty, a kinship if you will, an a afinity.

However, if I step outside of the emotional attatchement I agree with you. For the greater good of the Panthers team, it would probably be the something to seriously consider in regards to the future of this franchise.

Like many of you I don't ever want to see Smith go, I don't like it, it really is a sad thought. Whether we like it or not, that day is eventually coming. So I suppose we need to ask ourselves, when? When is it a time to have a legitimate discussion? Now?

I'm not sure but if I want to see this team that I love suceed in the future, it's something I am willing to lay on the table for discussion.
