Panthers quarterback Cam Newton’s second NFL season hasn’t been the rousing success that his rookie season was, but his play in Week 12 was something closer to what we saw in 2011.

The performance against the Eagles brought Newton an honor he also claimed during his rookie year.

Newton has been named the NFC offensive player of the week, a prize he also took home in December last year. Newton completed 18-of-28 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns during Monday night’s 30-22 victory over the Eagles. He also ran 14 times for 52 yards and two more touchdowns in one of his best performances of the season.

not sure who named him that, though.

Nice to see things like this again. Dumbing down the offense was a good move.

I don't buy that dumbing down horseshit. The offense was dumbed down before, in that it didn't allow for any adjustment. It was a very rigid system of running the called play and only the called play and relying on perfect execution of some retarded chudgimmick.

What we saw on Sunday was a lot closer to what an NFL offense is supposed to look like. Simple prosets with fluidity of execution.

If you noticed, after a good drive of basic power running and traditional undercenter-coryell-route-tree passing, Chud would go full retard and stall a drive or two with his retarded chicanery.

This to me was Chud going "Ohh look the offense is clicking today! Let me turn it up a notch with my custom badassery" and we subsequently looked like poo for a few series until we reverted to what works.
