I found our new kicker...

As everyone knows I've been searching high an low for a new kicker my search started 10 minutes ago and I found him on the front page of Yahoo

The compilation exploded across the Internet and currently has nearly one million views. Even some NFL scouts took notice. And, to say the least, they were impressed.

So the scouts asked kicking coach and former NFLer Michael Husted to work with Rugland in San Diego. After some training Rugland, who has never played American football, recently had a tryout with the New York Jets.

"It went well," Rugland told Norwegian state broadcaster NRK. "They tested me on field goals and kickoffs. Obviously you feel a little more pressure here, but I stayed pretty calm."

It takes only one viewing of the video to see that Rugland has some serious potential. In fact, Husted even compared him to Sebastian Janikowski of the Oakland Raiders.

"Havard has incredible talent as a kicker," Husted told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "He has a cannon for a leg. As he continues to refine his technique, he could be one of the strongest kickers in the NFL."

Another thing about the video, this made me skeptical about the guy. Not of his leg or skill set. Just that these type of videos are supposed to glorify you. How many times did he try and kick a 60 yarder before he made it? He can edit this all he wants to make him seem like he never misses but the fact remains he can't be perfect. In a game situation with pressure, how would he react. That's the true test.

    • Taking only players from the sheet that are realistically available in or after the listed round, I’d like… 1st: DT Caleb Banks (Styles not realistic) 2nd: LB Jacob Rodriguez 3rd: OT Best available from Bowry, Barber, and Casey 4th: CB Daylen Everette 5th: S Jalen Huskey 6th: RB Adam Randall 7th: IOL Best available from Lemieux, Dawkins, Leausa, and Brose   I know nothing about some of the players listed, but it seems like that would be the best way it could fall for now. I’m sure the list of who we meet will change a ton, and there will also be players we don’t meet with to keep quiet. I’d love to pick up Randall in the late rounds.
    • Not what I said. They know within the building why we aren't utilizing TEs more. If the rumors were true that we were seriously pursuing a couple of decent receiving TEs that strongly points toward a lack of quality receiving TEs currently on the roster. Does that mean we consider drafting one at 19? I don't know, but it wouldn't shock me and if we did there's only one guy it would be. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see TE drafting somewhere in the first three rounds.
    • Yeah, I don’t know. Tepper was behind the Bryce selection. Behind firings and hiring over his lack of development.  He doesn’t have to literally tell them their hands are tied for them to know this. It is in the air constantly. The Canales Bryce play calling was even portrayed by more than one person as Canales failing Bryce, instead of Bryce being responsible for his own performance (except when he does well, then it is all him). Now they have an extra coach in, to help the new OC get results from this QB.  The atmosphere is not welcoming to prototypical young QBs that have talent. You get Jake Plummer types or old vets. I think we are stuck.
