Any chance we switch over to the 3-4 Defense next season? With Jon Beason coming back and us having a draft pick where Manti Te'o could be available we would have 4 awesome LB's. Put Luke and Jon inside and Manti and Thomas Davis outside. Thoughts?

Not likely.

They'll continue to use occasional 3-4 looks, but I seriously doubt it'll be the base.

With regard to Beason, the combo of his contract numbers and his recent injury history doesn't speak well for his future here.

And honestly, with how good they've looked of late, why switch?

First off we dont really have the right pieces for a 3-4. We would need a real nose tackle. We would also need 2 pass rushing olb's (Davis could possibly fit one of these spots. Maybe CJ in the other). Drafting Manti Te'o would be idiotic. In my opinion, if we did want to switch to 3-4 we would draft a NT in the 1st and a pass rush OLB in the 2nd or vice versa. I would rather stick to 4-3.

Rivera had us with a top 10 defense running a 4-3. That's with Best Buy cashiers playing at CB and SS.

This team is not built to run the 3-4. You can't take four good 4-3 backers and suddenly go "awesome we'll just go 3-4 to use them all". Plus we finished pretty well with what we already run...

This would be a terrible terrible idea.

We at least have bodies for a 4-3 front 7. We don't for a 3-4.
