The deal will sell the Kings for approximately $500 million, with theSeattle group seeking relocation to Key Arena for the 2013-'14 season.

The Seattle group's plans, with support of the NBA, is to play two seasons in Key Arena before moving into a new Seattle arena, sources say.

No agreement signed, but one source describes deal as "1st and goal at 1." Maloofs history of changing course late still makes many uneasy.

The Maloofs are expected to keep an extremely small percentage of team, but will have no real input or say in franchise, sources say.

Happy to hear Seattle will be getting a new team. I'm assuming they'll be called the Supersonics again. Isn't a fan on here from Seattle or Canada that roots for the Lakers? He can jump that sinking ship, and go support the Supersonics. Lol, I kid I kid

Report is that they would ask for the Super Sonics name back. Also that the deal is being finalized right now. Should be announced in the next couple of days if everything goes well.

They don't need to ask for the name back, in the sale to Bennett, the city kept the name, uniforms, and colors, only thing they won't keep is the history. That being said, THANK YOU Chris Hansen. Cannot wait to watch some Sonics basketball! Was sick rooting on the Thunder, even though I will always love KD

won't happen...didn't cheer for the Grizzlies when they were in Vancouver, don't cheer for the Raptors in Toronto! I don't change teams and I don't cheer for teams based on where they are from! Happy for Seattle if they make this happen...I think it's not written in stone just yet. It does make for a fun Saturday night on a Seahawks weekend to go watch some basketball. I hope they get an NHL team for the same reason!

It's pretty much done that they are leaving Sacramento though. They are pissed at the city because think they were embarrassed and plan to enact their revenge by not selling to anyone with plans to keep the team in the area.

"The Maloofs own the team, and they aren't interested in selling to anyone interested in keeping the team in Sacramento" --- David Aldridge

John Dickinson@JDJohnDickinson

Takeaway from Aldridge: Maloofs are spiteful, vindictive people who want $$ & team out of SAC b/c KJ has repeatedly exposed/embarrassed them

If the Kings move, they will be the most relocated team in sports.

Originally they were the Cincinnati Royals who had "The Big O", Oscar Robertson and the Van Arsdale Bros. play for them. Then they became the Kansas City Kings, now the Sacremento Kings and looks like the the Seattle Super Sonics. (Wasn't that shortened to just the Sonics in later years? They really weren't so "Super".)

Right now they are tied with the Braves (Boston - Milwaukee - Atlanta.) and the A's (Philly - Kansas City - Oakland) Of course the Raiders (Oakland - LA - Oakland - San Jose??)

    • Watching Williams last night, guy has an arm and nfl ability  i see no future with Young.  either a player has nfl ability or they dont  cant survive on 20 or less points a game
    • Fowler: Bucs 23, Panthers 16. Baker Mayfield only won a single game when he was an unimpressive Carolina starter, but somehow he’s 5-0 when playing AGAINST the Panthers. For the Panthers to pull off this upset, they’ll need to score at least in the mid-20s. With Tampa Bay relatively healthy following a mini-bye (and Mike Evans’ return is huge), it feels like this will be too tough a task. Kaye: Bucs 24, Panthers 20. The win-loss-win-loss streak comes to an end. It’s hard to trust the play-calling following the loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Panthers know what’s on the line, but they also knew last week, too. It’ll be close; I just have trouble trusting a positive outcome after a defeating one on the road. Zietlow: Panthers 38, Bucs 35. This prediction goes against conventional wisdom, but then again, conventional wisdom doesn’t seem to apply to these Panthers. This group, after all, has yet to lose back-to-back contests since Weeks 1 and 2. I think they win this one to make Week 18 interesting — and yes, that’s even with motivated Baker Mayfield and future Hall of Famer Mike Evans in good form. Why not?
    • Sam developed into a different player after he mostly sat for a year and learned a ton by being in that QB room under Shannahan in San Francisco.  Then he went to the Vikings who have a poo load of talent and another genius level offensive mind at HC in Kevin O Connel. I think they genuinely built up his confidence in a way he never did in New York or Charlotte.  He would not have been the same player if he stayed here IMO. Especially if he had been involved in that disaster season with Frank Reich in 2023, that might have cooked his confidence for good.  I guess you could argue we wouldn't have been that bad if we also kept cmc and dj i guess.
