Mel Kiper says DT for the Panthers in the first

here is the writeup:

14

Sheldon Richardson *

Carolina Panthers (7-9)

COLLEGE: Missouri

AGE: 21

HT: 6-4

WT: 295

POS: DT

Analysis: The Panthers hit a home run with their first pick in 2012 when they landed Luke Kuechly, and Richardson brings a little bit of what Kuechly does at linebacker, but on the defensive line. Richardson made an unusually high number of tackles from the defensive tackle position because he has a quick burst off the snap, shows great strength in short-yardage situations and knows how to use his hands to get off blocks and make plays. The guy can even drop into coverage and will destroy screen plays. Carolina may need help at wide receiver, but the Panthers really need to strengthen the D-line as well.

Part of their job is to constantly change their mocks to create "new" content for readers. There's no way 32 teams pass on Quwattabacks. Hell The Golden Calf of Bristol went in the first. I just don't see us drafting defensive line in the first. We need big men to protect the Quwattaback. There has to be a well thought of offensive lineman at that spot or maybe a trade down scenario where we can protect our Franchise. To be honest DT has a pretty high bust rate in the first round. There are lots of steals 2nd through 5th if you have a good staff identifying them. (oh crap)

I f Eric Fisher (Central Michigan) falls to us at # 14 and we decide not to go DT, i would gladly take him. .Fisher is a balanced athlete and plays with excellent coordination and length for a 6-7, 305-pound blocker. Gross is getting up in age for a LT and Fisher would be a good replacement, inmy opinion.

I want to see how Vaccaro does at the combine. Man could we use a play making safety along side Godfrey.

I wanted a Safety too, but Vaccaro and Mcdonald looked lost most of the season. i would rather see what Campbell can do full time and go DT Jenkins out of Georgia. Then see if we could get a Safety a little later.

    • 7-3 in 1 score games is not sustainable.  Like at all.  Canales needs to figure this poo out stat
    • It's not optimistic at all. He has an unquestionably higher ceiling than Bryce. He played better than Bryce in his EXTREMELY limited action. That doesn't mean he is will be signficantly better than Bryce nor does that mean he should be a guy you put all your eggs in his basket. But if you want a valid option to replace Bryce when he fails in 2026, he is a very, very valid option. The one thing you cam say for Willis in the limited action is that from his time in Tennessee until now, you see consistent improvement. That isn't something you see with Bryce. I made a QB Success Metric and one thing that stood out from the data was how many 6th and 7th round "shots in the dark" that teams took. That was very eye opening. I don't think we do that enough. Frankly, unless we are happy with our #2 and/or #3 QB, that should be something we do at LEAST once every other season. And all the depth that we lack almost across the entire roster. Now you see why I say the roster is so bad?  So you think we should extend him? That's fine in theory but while we played whack a mole at QB, the entire roster kept getting worse and so did the QB. Just because the roster is bad doesn't mean you just give up with a bad QB. I would hope no one here is advocating for throwing a giant bag of money at Malik Willis or really a chunk of these options. That has no value at all.
    • Has TMac not been healthy? And in Cokers ten games we have like a below .500 record.  The reality is if Young doesn't grow, this team will be at best where it is again. It's extremely hard to win with a QB that is producing so little.
