Ray Horton pissed he was passed over for the Arizona HC gig and Arizona replaced him with one of the guys that ruined Philly's D. Lmao. If our D didn't look pretty good the second half of last season I'd be clamoring for Horton here.

I still think McDermott should be fired personally. With the DCs out there now we could def upgrade

Horton ran a 3-4 in Arizona.

There's nobody out there right now who I'd see as such a significant upgrade it'd be worth firing a DC who's doing a good job and who's well liked by his players.

Yea Im really shocked also.

Don't Horton and Arians have connections back in Pittsburgh? I would think that Arians would have kept Horton alone for that reason.

Even though Cardinals' Defense was awful, Horton is one of the better DC in this league. I just dont know if I'd take Bowles over Horton though he have done a pretty good job in the past with Miami.

I would love to have Horton here over Sean, but if any coach on this team earned a chance to come back it was Sean.

Umm, the Cardinal's defense wasn't awful, they were average to good this year. They've been markedly improved since Horton took over there.

    • Blowout incoming and the wheels fall off. Parsons will have multiple sacks, prob a FF. Media immediately starts saying the Bryce era is over
    • It's worth noting that we started playing something that looked like football after going down 17-0 against the Dolphins.  Up to that point we had rushed the ball 3 times and Bryce had two turnovers.   Then we ran it 5 straight times with Rico and he started cracking off some big gains and led to our first touchdown.  Another 37 yards of rushing later, Bryce goes 1 yard complete, incomplete, incomplete to get that field goal before halftime.  Then we committed big time to the run in the second half and played some really nice complimentary football.  The Panthers had stumbled on a formula, and it started with Rico being crazy productive.  Something they only learned because Chubba was injured and Bryce started that game so poorly they were forced to lean on Rico. Fast foward to Dallas, they essentially lean into the same game plan against the Cowboys and I think everyone was surprised by how quickly it started to look complimentary.  In my opinion the productive offense really helped the defense as well.  We played quite solid against a top offense. Finally we make our way to the Jets and Bills, Chubba's return.  You can't say the low scoring affair and return to ineffective football against the Jets was all on Chubba, they were indeed a better defense and so was Buffalo.  But the production difference between the two backs in both games was both visually and statistically obvious.  The bigger picture is the offense took a major step back as well.  They are other moving parts and it's isn't all one thing, BY9>Dalton by a decent margin at this point.   But yeah, Rico's vision and athleticism is just better than Chubba and it jumps at you.
