Without Dwan, DT is the biggest need, with him I think DB is. We saw what we were like without the Edwards already and it wasn't pretty. I've been wanting a nice oline or DB, but the more I think about it a DT is really what this team needs bad. I'd hate to see Luke's talents used up trying to plug holes, watching the run - instead of covering who needs it. DT, Oline, DB/WR. (right thread!)

The reason we aren't offering him more than 2 years IMO is that he is 32, had spine injury history and had one of his best years last year. Not a certainty he'll be as effective next year or in the 2nd year.

1 year deal is fine.

I would increase the deal to 2.5 m, at most, if he doesn't bite just move on.

I would like to have Dwan back but there are other options still available in FA and history doesn't suggest that he'll put up the same numbers that he did in 2012 (never had more than 2.5 in a season up until last year).

If we're gonna bring in an over 30 rush DT on a 1-year deal, I'd almost prefer to go with Richard Seymour. He's a little older but has been much more productive throughout his career, including in Oakland.

C'mon Dwan. Quit being stubborn. You ain't gonna get another deal elsewhere. You had your best season in this system, so stick with it.

If we can retain Dwan, we can easily go WR (Keenan/Patterson/Tavon) at 14, and a big body in Jesse or Hankins at 44. Unless, Star end up faling to 14.
