Yasinskas when he was with The Observer was good.

Yasinskas with ESPN is careless and lazy when it comes to Panthers reporting.

This offseason alone, you've got his continual assertions that Brandon Beane was in the mix for GM when he never really was, plus his comment that Dave Gettleman had never been a college scout.

When it comes to the Panthers, Yasinskas just doesn't seem to care whether he gets the facts right or not, and that makes for a lousy reporter.

cant be perfect all the time, I'd hate for someone to ridicule my job with the same veracity, but with that said the Beane thing was silly

He's a sports reporter. Getting the facts right is his whole job.

And the Gettleman thing? All he had to do was read his bio. Heck, I read his bio. So did half the people on this board (or more) and nobody was paying us to do it.

We've already been through this. If the hard stats and rankings were any indication, then the Ravens should not be Super Bowl Champions. They ultimately ranked worse than the Panthers. Go figure that. Stop trying to use the same old points to bolster your convoluted rationale. It's not as complicated as you're trying to make it sound. The Ravens and the 49ers came down to offense.

You can't negate the fact that over the bulk of the season the defense were of each team was ranked higher and a major reason they were even in that position.

I'm not mad at Yas. He's just voicing an opinion, but he did kind tell us our FA has sucked overall, but then qualifies it by saying we don't have any money, so it's no surprise. To me it's a little disingenuous to even compare our FA to other teams' without looking at our success or failure from the perspective of our purse strings.

I do kind it somewhat odd that we've signed so many defensive backs. Seems like we could have stopped at two, but that's just me.

If I had to choose one or the other? I would take a top 10ish Offense over a top 10ish Defense.

That said. You have to be pretty good at both to be competitive. We know what we have on O. Or at least we have a decent idea of what to expect. If so, our O should indeed be top 10ish. Even without that. oh so coveted, WR at the top of the draft guy, folks be yakking about.

It's that D that scares me. We still have not addressed that pesky DT position. We can be pretty good against the pass, it is the lack of insides presense in the run game that worries me. Hoping a rookie can fill that void is not a top wish. But it just might be the best wish. Fix the run D, throw in a pass rush with a potentially decent backfield, and we can be pretty good on that side of the ball.

So I say. We should be pretty good this year. Maybe with a top 10 Offense to go with our 15ish Defense. Let's see where it takes us?

Could be a combination of a couple of things? One, more teams are running more of those 3-4 WR sets, so we are bringing in more CB to combat those sets. Two, maybe Gettlemen does not have the faith in the young kids some of us fans have. So he is hedging his bets by bringing in some vet competition.

OR...Gettlemen saw a couple of guys he thought could improve the team on the cheap and said. Why not?

OR... We are both reading too much into the situation.

In fairness....all we have done is lose Chris Gamble and sign weak secondary players and a return man.

All in all, that makes us a little worse....

just wondering when the last time was we noticed gamble was on or off the field. we've done well without him and sucked with him. we aren't worse or better with him or without him. we won't notice he's gone.
