if you're contemplating committing seppuku over our last two picks go ahead and do it because you're probably a terrible poster, but think about this:

AJ Klein and Kenjon Barner are both incredibly talented players at their respective positions who fell much farther in the draft than they were projected. But even that is secondary: both positions - linebacker and running back - are slots that we have massive amounts of cap space tied into. besides providing insurance for injuries at those positions, it also makes the following players expendable:

Jon Beason - cap hit $9,500,000

Deangelo Williams - cap hit $8,200,000

I recognize that cutting those guys off the bat wouldn't mean getting every dime of that space back, but that's $17.7 million in cap space negated by guys who can do their job for years on low-round rookie contracts.

17.7 million/year sounds like a nice salary for cam newton.

for the rest of you, here's a guide on hara-kari. don't forget your kaishaku, they come in handy.

So you're telling me AJ fuging Klein is going to replace Jon Beason? Well if so I hope Ron Rivera updates his resume. Cause his ass is gone.

I think he can.

Beason is a shell of his former self. Injury plagued, possibly lazy, and maybe even undetermined now that he finally get his large contract. there was a time when Beason was a god on the football field. Luke Kuechly is now that player.

i don't know about you but i don't want 10m a year tied up into an injury-prone OLB.

1. It's funny of you to assume Cam is going to want to continue to stay and play for a team that has done nothing to build around him. Cam is about building a brand and you can't do that if your losing.

2. Fug out of here thinking we are getting rid of Beason.

Keek is entrenched at MLB, TD is really only suited to play WLB. Strongside linebacker only plays around 60% of the snaps, is the easiest position to fill on defense as well as being the lowest impact position. We're not going to pay Beason the highest MLB in NFL history to play SAM. Hell we cut Anderson because he was paid too much for a SS backer and he was making a fraction of what Beason is. He won't be gone this year because his base salary is guaranteed but I don't expect him to be here next year.

Klein should be solid depth and STs this first year after we lost both Anderson and Phillips and could possibly be a starter in 2014, really quality player for a 5th round pick.

We'll save nearly $18 million over 3 years by cutting DWill, who will be 30-32 years old during that time, and averaged 3.6YPC through week 16 last year. Barner will make less than $2 million over that same period and I really like him as a prospect, I think we'll be even better off with him as our #2 even before you factor in the huge cap savings.

    • You're assuming just as well.   Morgan and Canales were hired 3 days apart.  I believe it was partially due to their connections in Seattle.  i believe Tepper wanted some familiarity with his GM and HC.  It is so easy to sit back and arm-chair QB over draft picks.  You don't know what the philosophy was going into the 2024 draft.  I believe Canales and Morgan were drafting for the future.  XL and Brooks point to that philosophy. Name me one GM that is 100% on draft picks.  Just one.  You're not going to find one.    I think year one picks weren't for what can you do for me now but Potential.   XL hasn't lived up to the hype of a 1st rounder.  I think we all can agree on that. However, there still is hope he comes around.  What I believe they saw in him was his speed after the catch.  He needs to get more consistent but when he gets the ball you kind of hold your breath just a second because if he gets free, he's gone.  The Brooks pick was a signing for the future, and no one could have guessed he would re-injure the same ACL.  This makes the pick look bad but Dallas was ready to draft him later that same round.  IMO we'll have to see what happens next season before we can call this a bust. Wallace has improved each season and for a third rounder has done well.  Sanders has shown flashes and considering the pick in the 4th round it wasn't a bad pick.  His sophomore season IMO was a little bit more productive.  Smith-Wade has been a good addition and has played well.  For a 5th round pick to get as much playing time as he has.  Most picks below round 3 should take a couple of years to get up to speed.  He's been a decent player.  Crumedy, no comment We turned Barrett into Jackson.  This was an amazing move and basically got a starting CB for a 7th round pick.  Pretty shrewd if you ask me. Coker, maybe the best Free Agent signing of the 2024 draft class. So, in short, you can't say that the draft was a bust.  It isn't a home run but all but one are still on the team and outside of Brooks have made contributions to wins.  2025 draft class has been much better with almost every pick making contributions this season.  Now take Fitterer's two years and compare them to Morgan and tell me that they have the same philosophy.
    • He hasn’t led crap, he’s on loaded teams and a piece of the puzzle. And he’s he has improved drastically but it took the ultimate QB whispers in Shanahan and KOC. You put him on this Panther team and he’s back to normal Darnold
    • Slavin and Jarvis week to week. Florida cheap shots took out our two best players.  I’d start KK so he can beat the brakes off someone.
