NFL AM worst NFC draft

I remember the last couple of years when the "experts" raved about Hurney's drafts because we filled out our needs from round 1 to 7. All that left us was a handful of starting rookies and busts.

The draft is not the end all be all of the offseason. There's multiple ways to fill holes. Drafting is good for BPA and depth. You fill immediate holes through FA. So far, I think we have dropped the ball on that in regards to the RG spot. Drafting Kugbila was fine but I'm worried he might be too raw to start week 1. Of course, there's still time, but I would like to see at least more one vet guard signed before we head into training camp.

One QB drafted in middle of round 1, 3 wideouts drafted in round 1, none top 5 or sure things, and 0 rbs in round 1. This should tell people about the quality of offensive weapons in this draft. We drafted players from positions of strength. Not the strongest players in positions of weakness. We couldnt make the team better going offense this year. So we made the team better through defensive line and depth moves. No shame in taking what ur given.

THIS! Think of how many drafts we've gotten so excited over thinking we had solved all of the teams issues and addressed our needs only to have it all look like garbage 3 years later. I remember how excited I was the year we took stu and otah. Everette brown. Jimmy Clausen. The constant let downs at receiver by guys like Keary Colbert and Dwayne Jarret.

Seriously what makes anyone think taking a 5th or 6th round receiver is going to come in and win a job given our past history taking receivers.

The media dont like I draft because it is unsexy, we drafted a half ton of meat to go to war in the trenches and then we added developmental players like AJ and KenJon that will be back ups and maybe even future replacements were we are already strong at.

Next year it will be easier to go after the sexy picks when we have less and less holes to fill.

    • I mean, you probably should've waited after the season is over before "going there," that way we we'd have four more games of comparison and discussion. Don't get me wrong, I occasionally go out on a limb, but Bryce just had his best game and has given people hope (which could realistically be false hope), and Shedeur just doesn't have that many games under his belt (even if he does look promising), one of them being against the Titans. No harm in being patient and letting things play out.  If you noticed, Tepper seems to be taking a wait-and-see attitude, and he didn't mention Bryce in the clip in the other thread. I'm still highly skeptical of Bryce (and glad that Sanders has shown an ounce of success), but the reality is that we have to let things play out. The Sanders train left long ago (if it was even here). But,there are more realistic options if Bryce turns back into a frog.
    • imagine thinking that talking about our next opponent is "gassing up" someone.... and then lying about basic info because it's not flattering to the league's worst starting QB since he arrived.  as a starter he is 2-3 (just a fact) as a starter vs Bryce this year pass yards per game - Shough rush yards per game - Shough comp % - Shough  QB rating - Shough yards/per attempt - Shough and Shough is only good for a 2nd year rookie thrust into the gig on a bad team.   He is getting graded on a curve of what he is.  And he won the last head to head vs us, and looked like the best QB on the field that day.   there are a billion red flags when it comes to Bryce Young.  This is just another.
    • Imagine gassing up a 2-4 QB for a terrible division rival with stats worse than our QB in every category except raw yards per game
