Who would we have taken at 14 if Star wasn't there?

It's hard believing that. I'm sure the Panthers would have had Floyd right behind of Star if they knew both of them were going to be there at 14. I would think Floyd would have been projected higher than Short on Panthers' board even though Gettleman said he was the best pass rushing DT in this draft. That's what everyone GM say. Remember Idzik and the Jets said they were stunned bc they got two of their top 4 guys in Milliner and Sheldon. Hard to believe it.

Easy to believe the Short is the best pass rushing DT in the draft. It is factual, not Gettlefluff. Floyd went where he belonged.

I think Richardson would have been the pick, assuming the Jets took Star instead of Richardson.  We might have taken Hankins in the 2nd round instead of Short if we took Richardson in the 1st.

I think, Star/Short > Richardson/Hankins

I find the Eifert rumors interesting -- it shows that Gettleman's seriously committed to the BPA strategy (though I assume he still wouldn't have drafted a QB or RB in the 1st round). Eifert was certainly a blue-chip prospect. If you compared him with Rhodes for example, a lot of huddlers may have preferred the latter because of the position he played, but Eifert was the cleaner prospect in general.

I know. I said you were right. I'm just saying that might've been the discussion not knowing Floyd was going to be there also. I would say that was the plan to take Rhodes or Eifert if Star wasnt there going into the draft. Once the draft started and Floyd begin to slip. I'd assume at pick 13 (jets) the Panthers would've consider Floyd higher than Rhodes and Eifert.

The Panthers front office said they stopped accepting trade offers after pick 11, when they knew that they would have a shot at Eifert, Star, or Rhodes.

Floyd wasn't in the discussion. He was not considered at 14.

Eifert and Rhodes might have been the top guys going into the draft, but not during it. Even if Star were to be taken before 14, think it would be hard for the Panthers to pass up on Floyd.

But yea, considering Star and Floyd gone Eifert and Rhodes may have been our guys.

I don't think we would have tooken Floyd. They said that we where only considering 3 people during that pick and the 3 people were obviously Star, then Xavier Rhodes and Effeirt were the only two other names that were leaked out. I would have loved if we had picked up Xavier Rhodes he's probably going to be the best Corner in this draft class.

A guy I wanted though was Deandre Hopkins!!!

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
