I'm from SC and I love my Cats no matter what preceeds the word 'Panthers'.

The team belongs to the state its in. It's just as close to Georgia as it is South Carolina. The organization obviously wanted the more broad appeal so they made it the "Carolina" Panthers.

Wow that's just plain ignorant. I'm sure the others have already stated all the reasons why.
