What would Our team look like right now?

I always wondered that if he had hire a new GM (like we shoulda) when we canned Fox.Gettleman would had a ton of cap money to play with also be inresting who he would took in his first draft and how he woulda hit FA after the lockout with all that Cap Room.

I don't think we would've done anything crazy, but I do think that we would be miles ahead in our development of drafted players in his style. I think Gettleman's style corresponds pretty well with Rivera's and I think we would've already moved from focusing on defense, which we did in this past draft, and moved to offense.

Although one interesting point that comes to my mind is whether or not Gettleman would've both hired Rivera and drafted Cam.

I Think Gettleman still would had drafted Cam he was the best QB in that Class and Gettle would know at that time QB was our biggest Weakness.I really want to know what else he would done in that class cause other than Cam we drafted  all Busts that year.

we would have been in a much better cap situation.

giant contracts wouldn't have been handed out, though people would have been re-signed.

we'd have more talent on the roster overall because of FA and better picks made after the 1st round.

trenches wouldn't have been the issue they were heading into this year.

Maybe, or maybe he would've gone defense. I don't think we'll know how Gettleman likes to approach roster construction until we see him do it for a couple more years.

Could've easily drafted Von Miller or AJ Green, though. Less risk, still glaring weaknesses at the time (with the unknown being TD coming back strong at OLB)

If we want to go crazy with the what-if's, wouldn't be crazy to assume that Andy Dalton and AJ Green would be here in Carolina if Getty was the GM in '10

I know Armanti and Fua wouldn't be on this team.

Can't wait until these two are gone. We need real players on the roster. Guys who can catch and run routes and guys who can stand their groud

If I were a swan, I'd be gone.
If I were a train, I'd be late.
And if I were a good man, I'd talk with you more often than I do.
If I were to sleep, I could dream.
If I were afraid, I could hide.
If I go insane, please don't put your wires in my brain.
If I were the moon, I'd be cool.
If I were a rule, I would bend.
If I were a good man, I'd understand the spaces between friends.
If I were alone, I would cry.
And if I were with you, I'd be home and dry.
And if I go insane, will you still let me join in with the game?
If I were a swan, I'd be gone.
If I were a train, I'd be late again.
If I were a good man, I'd talk to you more often than I do.

we would've had to trade back in to the 2nd if we wanted dalton

green very well could have been the pick though.  if we weren't going to go the cam route then green would have been a great consolation prize in retrospect.

edit: unless you mean if hurney had been let go after the 2009 season with gettleman entering the 2010 draft as the gm and having not traded that pick of course.

    • Yea when teams see a gun charge they rightly pause but this seems like a big misunderstanding.
    • Sorry man you lost me at "Teppers have evolved as owners". Limped into playoffs at 8-9 not even above .500 Tepper is trash as an owner bro and that's not even a discussion at this point. 37-83 w/l ratio. Nuff said.... Morgan tho, he's cooking and it ain't cuz of Teppers leadership
    • After listening to Morgan's presser twice, I came away with some key beliefs. First of all, I don't think he's a bullshitter. What you see is what you get. When he says something, he means it.  The Teppers really have evolved as owners. Morgan has mentioned how they're easy to work with--a pleasure to work with a few times now. There seems to be a good relationship between all of them (and include Dave Canales on that). We'll see if it lasts. Yes, no one wanted to come to Carolina with the previous management, but that seems to have changed. The team signed arguably the top Edge, LB and OT on the market, two of them on pretty good deals and one on what I'll say is "not a bad one." And, credit Sunshine Dave "Flowers and Cotton Candy" Canales for helping to change the culture. Morgan mentioned getting guys--and I'm paraphrasing--that are not only great football players but great people. Don't look for us to be acquiring any James Pearce types anytime soon, just saying. We'll see if that holds true in the future. Dan Morgan really has set up the Panthers to take the BPA/BAP. He mentioned it at least a couple of times, and he doesn't seem pressured to pinpoint a particular position. He just wants quality players that will help the team. This is how it's going to be (to your joy or dismay, probably for as long as he's here), and personally I love it. Many of us know how Morgan was when he played: aggressive! That's what he's going to be when making acquisitions. He explicitly said it, and emphasized it. All avenues are open (think FA, waivers...the draft)! Personally, as long as it's controlled aggression and not reckless aggression, I love it.  On KP: "Mobility is big in this league."  He basically says if another QB is the BPA while drafting--we're going by our board, people--we're going to add them.        ...
