Best NFL Players Under 23 Per CBS

Returning kicks doesn't help the defense, now does it? Sure, he's been electric in that department but his area of expertise (you know, the reason he was drafted fifth overall) has been lackluster.

Peterson isn't a Top 10 corner two years into his career, so I view him as a disappointment.

lol. PP was pretty good last year and got better as the season went on. Only place he struggled was in the slot. Was really good on the outside. Add that to his ST play and he's been what AZ wanted. He'll only get better as well. The dude isn't even 23 yet!

lol at calling him a disappointment.

no one is saying peterson is bad. we're saying he has received the label of shutdown corner without being anything close to that. he's an AMAZING playmaker, and that isn't anything to be ashamed of.

Some of you are criminally underrating Peterson the corner.  He was actually very, very good last year and is one of the few corners that is asked to cover his man on an island with little over the top help.

Nevertheless, am I the only one who didn't know Kuechly was 21 when we drafted him last year?  Granted, I do now remember he played as a true freshman at Boston College.

What helps remind me is that he was poised to absolutely shatter the tackle record in his senior season, but ended up declaring for the draft. Lol

having your LBs lead the team in tackles isn't a good thing.

having them lead the league in tackles is a bad thing.

i mean sure, it means you've got stud LBs, but it also means your defense isn't very good at all....esp. the guys in front.

i thope that is different this year.

Wait, what?  What's your reasoning behind that?  LBs will almost ALWAYS lead your team in tackles (a rare exception may be a safety), they're just in the best position to make tackles out of anyone on the field.  Out of the top 30 tacklers for the season, all but 2 of them were linebackers.  If I'm reading between the lines, you're saying that the d-line should lead your team in tackles...but that just isn't practical.  I would be surprised if a d-lineman has EVER led his team in tackles in the history of the NFL, although JJ Watt came really close this year (with a historical season)...but that was with Brian Cushing out, who I think would have decisively led Houston in tackles if he was playing.

A good defense should have a strong front 7 that works together to make stops - the d-line will be good enough to occupy the blockers (and may occasionally make stops themselves) leaving the LBs free to tackle the ball-carriers.  D-linemen also most likely will be limited to tackles in the run game, meaning they won't even have the opportunity to make a tackle in half of their snaps.  LBs at least can roam the middle of the field and make stops in the short/intermediate pass game.

Anyways, I know you know your football so I feel kind of silly spouting out these football basics, but just trying to figure out where you're coming from...

Umm.....huh? Quite literally every single team's leading tackler is one of their LBs.

Had Kuechly started from the first game (He did start, but he was off the field for at least 75% of defensive snaps, and he wasn't in his natural position), he probably would have set a record for tackles in a season with 230+.  So now he has a good group of DTs (and I don't want to be hasty with Star.  He's a rookie so we need to give him some space to grow into a great DT) in front of him, and he will be in the middle from the get go.  Kuechly has the potential to be the best MLB in the history of the game when everything is said and done.  I'm not hesitant to say Kuechly right now, is the best linebacker in the game.

Peterson is such a good corner they were considering moving him to safety, LOL

Kuechly is # 1 and it isn't even close.

Sigh. Did you even watch any of PP or look at his stats? Do you even know why they were considering to move him to S and how long that thought lasted?

Seriously, I don't mind homers but at least don't sound like a moron.
