WalterFootball 2014 NFL Mock Draft

Recommended Posts

I need to wait and see how Watkins plays this year before I could say I would be mad if we passed on him.

If he is back to the Watkins of 2 years ago....would NOT want to pass on him.

But, he really faded last season.  Is he a one year wonder, or was last season the anomily.

he was injured last season. judging by his performance in game 1 he looks to be back to form.

Here's Walter's October 16th Mock Draft for us.

1) Carolina Panthers: Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson

How much longer are the Panthers going to rely on Brandon LaFell as a starting receiver? They need more explosion on offense; not to mention a No. 1 receiver after Steve Smith retires. Cam Newton has had his ups and downs this season, so Carolina needs to give him more weapons.

Round 2... Yep... Another Running Back!

2) Carolina Panthers: De'Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon

Cam Newton is an inconsistent passer. He could really benefit from a potent, pass-catching weapon coming out of the backfield.

3) Carolina Panthers: Antone Exum, CB, Virginia Tech

The Panthers went back-to-back defensive tackles this past April, so they could definitely do the same thing at the cornerback position (if they go with a corner in the first two rounds) considering the circumstances.

Pick change; previously Rashaad Reynolds, CB

If Shula stays on as the OC, I don't see WR as a big deal.  They want to keep Cam to 25 passes mixed with a LOT of running.  A great run blocking "hog molly" would improve our offense more than any WR.  We have neglected the Offensive Line long enough, its time to re-tool and inject some real talent there.

My vote would Offensive Lineman as the #1 need next off-season.

Playmakers are key in this league because the league protects them...OL are not playmakers. CB...meh, I guess I could see it, but if they make a play on the WR it is flag...I would like for us to pick WR early and often this draft Cam is good, Smith has declined rapidly. LaFell...maybe we resign him, but I don't think he is anything special....For me I could rock out with

1. Mike Evans-WR

2. James Hurst-OT

3. Rashad Greene-WR

4. A bigger CB...I look at a guy like Ross Cockrell from Duke or McGill from Utah...I just don't think that defensive backs win you games in the NFL anymore, the NFL just won't allow it. So why waste picks on a great safety or shutdown corner when you can't touch the other guys???
