NFL Network is reporting...

....that Peppers is now open to signing a long term contract and the Panthers are working toward this end. The fellow who is apparently replacing Scheter as the inside info reporter said that he has solid knowledge that this is being discussed.

Look for this to be in the range of Haynesworth contract which boiled down to 4 yr/$48 million with $41 mil guarenteed. My guess is a $105 million contract which fleshes out at 4 yr/ $50 million with $44 million guaranteed.

Lets do it. Peppers will get another 40+ sacks to add to his total and possibly be the first Panther to enter the HOF. And I will have to make the trip to Canton to see it. Could we have a HOF Huddle Tailgate in Canton before the ceremony?

i really don't like the idea of an uncapped year because I'm afraid Carolina, as a small market team, won't be able to compete in year and out for the championship. But if we lock him up with gaurenteed 12 mil a year for 4 or 5 years...we may handcuff ourselves as a franchise if the NFL doesn't become uncapped. On the other hand, if we can afford 17 mil in a capped year, maybe it isn't a big deal as long as Pep plays well.

I'm pretty skeptical about fantasy's played out by pussy hurt fans. He's a Panther, just what Hurney/ Fox wanted, get used to it...

Do any of you guys ever read the comments on the observers blog....every single guy on there is planing on booing him, and I guess are pulling for him to fail as a player. It's amazingly retarded.

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone and we have Taylor Moton inked to a recent extension. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
