Charles Godfrey should have one safety spot locked down, but after that it's a mystery. The cornerback candidates include Captain Munnerlyn, Josh Norman, Drayton Florence and D.J. Moore. Translation: The Panthers better have a great pass rush to compensate.

Ted Ginn wants to be known as a wide receiver rather than just a return man. We have our doubts he'll make much of an impact, but he's the best option out of a shaky group that includes a lot of returner types like Armanti Edwards, Domenik Hixon, Joe Adams and Kealoha Pilares.

 
It should probably say "Domenik Hixon vs. The Field" but regardless it's still a training camp match-up to watch.

Our secondary is a good pool of talent with not much spread so it will be very competitive..

 

I do think Ginn gets the nod as the third receiver only because having him in the slot will pay more dividends than hixon. Hixon will rotate at the X spot.

Actually I think Ginn would be much better on the outside, running streaks and posts. His knocks come from his dislike of contact. He gets alligator arms because he's afraid to get hit. And if that's the case the slot is a bad idea for Ginn.

This...it kills me when bitches fail to mention Thomas, who I feel will start at one corner spot. The things about Thomas that I like is that if he gets beat he goes down swinging, not this Josh Norman give you a first down but not touchdown bullshit.

Josh Norman has freakishly long arms for a player of his height, and decent speed and quickness. Norman just screwed up too much last season, but he should start if he's learned how to play the position. Josh Thomas is listed at 5'10, but he looks about 5'7 on the field, and has short arms. Watching Thomas trying to cover Bay-Bay in the Broncos game was a nightmare. You have to have a certain height or reach to cover tall NFL WRs, and he just doesn't have it. He is deceptively strong, and a good tackler, decent speed, but still a liability.

You totally just said that Josh Thomas was a liability because of his physical size and that Josh Norman was promising because of his size and measurables....forget about the "screw ups" Norman has the physical tools......good call.

Josh Norman has more potential than Josh Thomas imo. Norman's mental errors were a major problem last season, but if he's cleaned that up (I'm not saying he has) then he should start imo. Thomas is a liability against large WRs due to his size. That is not at all controversial. Norman is better suited to cover larger WR's due to his long arms, that's my opinion.
