8-1-13 Camp Thread

Garry Williams was going to start a few years ago-blew out his knee in preseason.  However, we were purging the roster then, and paying our core crazy money and ignoring insignificant positions like CB, DT, and G.

There are stlll 4 preseason games,  If Williams sucks, we probably cut him too (He makes over $1 m).  Kugbila needs to get his arse out there.

What if they like Williams enough at G if they sign a better RT?  Maybe Bell should be nervous, not Williams.

Gotta hope everyone stays healthy this practice. I could see guys trying to play too hard to prove they're not soft in the wake of the Hangartner cut. I imagine it'll be an uncomfortable day for the Panthers.

Heard the water boy was bringing a 55 gallon drum . . .

Somewhere in the middle.  Moore is wanting big bucks we (and other teams) want vet minimum. There will be a time somewhere down the road one or the other is going to give in and up or lower the ante.

The vet aint getting big bucks and the team isn't getting vet minimum (at least for moore).  Hopefully we'll be the one who bites on giving a modest salary to a Top 5 OG.

2 years, 5 million would only be a million more than hangman. It would also give us two drafts to rebuild our line.

2014-LT 2015- RT or RG if kugbilla isn't cutting it.

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
