The Panther Project: Brandon Williams

Recommended Posts

If anyone can get the most out of Brandon Williams, it's tight end coach Pete Hoener. Coach Hoener has worked with some very good tight ends in his football career.

Missouri (1976, Graduate Assistant): Kellen Winslow Sr.

St. Louis Cardinals (1985, Tight End's Coach): Jay Novacek

San Francisco 49ers (2006-2010, Tight End's Coach): Vernon Davis

San Francisco 49ers (2006-2010, Tight End's Coach): Delanie Walker

Carolina Panthers (2011, Tight End's Coach): Jeremy Shockey

Carolina Panthers (2011-Present, Tight End's Coach): Greg Olsen

Coach Hoener has a great track record.

I'm not gonna get myself all excited about him doing anything this year, but if they can keep him on the PS and develop him, I think certainly next year he could get onto the active game day roster.

On a side note, can you imagine being confronted by Brandon Williams as a cop? Holy shite.

I think he's been getting too much exposure and too much good work in at camp for us to be able to slip him onto the PS.  I'd much rather cut Hartsock and keep Williams on the roster.  That way he can get invaluable gametime experience too.

I'm not sure of the rules of PS players. Are they poachable at any time by anyone? If that's the case then I'd say yeah cut someone else and keep him on. Hartsock doesn't exactly play a large role anyway.

Yea, they're poachable any time by any one.  If someone offers him a contract and a spot on the 53, he can take it if he wants.
