Did you see this pic of Star?

Captain Morgan

Honestly, I think Star will take on alot of blockers for Luke. I think Luke's production is going to skyrocket much further than it already has.

Star wasnt drafted to be a glamorous tackling machine, he was drafted to swallow blockers, jack the oline, hold point of attack, and ultimatly allow our Linebackers to flow where they want without much resistance.

Star will do the dirty work that will push our Defense to be very good.

Exactly.  A big, block devouring DT is a LB's best friend.

Lets relax on calling this guy a prodigy yet....

Before you posted this, I did not see one person who called him a prodigy.   I saw, "Holy Poo,"  "He is a monster," and "I can't wait to see him on Friday."

Nobody directly or indirectly called him a prodigy.  So there is really no need to "hold off,"

Don't mind him. CRA is experimenting with new names since "Debbie" and "Nancy" have been taken

Star is going to be the anchor of our D-line for years to come, but he is going to need some time to adjust to a few things in the NFL.  Short however, may put up flashy numbers rather quickly in our scheme.

The most obvious is talent level and speed, but what is going to change the most is his responsibility on the D-line.  Being a NT in a 4-3 at Utah, he had A-gap responsibility, keeping the MAC backer clean, and taking on the double team.  However, in Carolina's system he will be asked to add different things repertoire of skills.  For example, he will be asked to loop all the way around a crashing defensive end or keeping QB containment, etc.  NFL Caliber 4-3 NTs are faster and more athletic than was necessary in college, but tend not to get the flashy stats of the DE's or Tech T. ISee players like Marcell Darius, Domata Peko, Vince Wilfork

He will not spend much time in the Tech position, where the responsibilities involve quickness, penetration, and disruption.  The Tech Tackle usually gets the impressive statistics of the two positions (tackles for loss, sacks, etc.)   IE Geno Atkins, Suh, McCoy, and where Short will play etc....

TLDR

Utah runs a very similar 4-3 to Carolina, but he will have more to do on our line.  Short, in the Tech, will be set up for success early.
