Gettle can't really be this oblivious, could he?

I personally think he is tanking the season so he can get rid of Rivera and bring in his coach and secure another high draft pick.  Then it will officially be his team.

The above comment is hyperbole and is intended to incite the Chicken Littles  among us.  Watch someone take this literal and blast me.  3...2...1...

Why do you think this?

Ya gotta be pretty clueless to think any NFL QB would be that stupid. If you're not one of the best, then tanking it means you're in danger of losing your job. If you are one of the best, it'll be obvious you're trying to sabotage your team and nobody will want you behind center.

As for Gettleman, he's not a magician. You can't upgrade every area of the team overnight.

You didn't read the fine print

This is what I was talking about in the other thread. You want Hurney back basically, cause he was the one who like to pay old injury prone players to come in and waste money. Wharton couldn't even get healthy enough to play in Bengals camp. They need o-line help too, but cut him. As for one year deals, the only people who have them are people who need to prove themselves.

If an old "injury prone" player is better than what we have you damn right I want him paid. We aren't talking big money either it's just ego.

Gary Williams should be a damn back up. Byron bell should be a damn back up. Can you imagine if one of them gets hurt?

Holy fine print Batman.  Where did that come from?  If you say what you mean, there is no need for fine print.  But hey, this did allow you to get a few more posts for your count.

I said exactly what I meant.  But I will be happy to explain it in baby steps.  I am extremely entertained by the influx of overreaction and rush to judgement threads, comments, etc.. that are posted after a preseason game stinker.  There are at least 5 chicken little threads like this and another one with some wackadoodle play calling idea that was spawned from a Madden game.

All of this is knee-jerk and idiotic...  But at the same time, extremely entertaining.

Everyone's world is shattering today, lol. To quote RR "I saw some good things".

I think everyone is stung by the fact that a well engineered offensive system made our defense look silly. Fact is Phili will be doing this all year, and if you watched them do it to NE week one you should have seen this coming. Doesn't matter how good our D is, that system will take a bit of time to figure out before any team can shut it down.

If we aren't going to pay Wharton then we won't be paying someone else who is going to be an immediate upgrade. Plus go back and look at the game and see how many of pressures and sacks were due to blitzes and stunts versus straight 3 man pressure or even 4 man pressure.  The line was not good in running the ball but against the pass they were actually decent.

Lets see how great of system it is when teams are gameplanning to shut it down.  Philly was pulling out the stops and showing everything last night while we were vanilla.  If college teams like Standford can shut it down, NFl coordinators can as well.

That comment about its time to win was taken out of context. He was saying he's set records and raised the bar on performance and other guys are stepping up, so now is the time for the panthers to win. It was optimistic, not demanding like it was made out to be.

Hate our beat writer for basically adding to his portfolio of sensationalism for when he applies to ESPN. Dickhead he is.

Good point....I guess I was just trying to say Gettleman is actually doing a good job as a GM
