Tonight was Newton's best completion % performance ever in a preseason game 3.

2011 - 31%

2012 - 40 %

Tonight - 52%

Cam will be fine... worry about the OL. One that has Williams running at an all time low this time of year. Newton will be the same big play machine he has been.....and we are running the standard Rivera preseason plan of running a vanilla O that takes away all his comfort plays.

Cam is fine. He produced record offense here each year following those all important game 3's

Two things after I've watched the first half

- If we make it to next Thursday without adding a legitimate player on the OL, there's a dent perception wise in Gettleman's armor. I just watched our star QB get hurt because our "starting" RG missed an assignment because he's also the backup at LG and very clearly has no idea how the position works. Unacceptable.

That huge Lafell drop is also unacceptable.

- I've decided on willing to part with something important to legitimately address the OL. I feel strong enough about the rest of the roster that I believe we can make a run and it's worth making a move to insure that that crucial spot on the team does not hold us back.

Yeah dude. You of all people cannot make a thread like this. Either you think cam is going to be fine and the offense will still produce or you think gettleman isn't sold on cam and he's gonna be gone soon. Pick one

I think Cam will be Cam....put the team on his back and be a monster. Same ole, same ole

Do I think he has the pieces around him to be consistant and for the team to turn all these close games into wins? Not with what is around Cam currently. Weak cast around Cam will keep the O too hot and cold and too much on Newton....

Those thoughts don't contradict each other. No need to pick one. Cam will be the same guy he has been for the last 2 seasons.

The offensive line is a problem, and the reason isn't that they're getting manhandled physically, they're simply blowing basic assignments and playing like retards who have no clue what they're doing. Maybe it's the vanilla playcalling, but I'm definitely worried about the line calls.

As far as Cam is concerned I'd actually give him props for not committing more turnovers under the kind of duress he's been under.

    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
    • I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
