we HAVE to get a better secondary

We know Cam is accurate when he has time. But under pressure or on the run, his stats fall off greatly.

One of the reasons Wilson had a career day last week is because of the secondary he practices with.   If we want Cam to turn into the passer we all know he can be, then the panthers organization would be very wise making some moves to improve his competition in practice... Arguably, this may or may not help very much in Game time scenarios.  Improving the Secondary would certainly help, but at what cost? what would we have to give up to Put a Revis caliber Corner out there.  Charles Johnson?  Thomas Davis?   We dont have anyone on offense to trade, and Gettleman would be a fool to ruin his draft  this early in his stay here.

Either way, its not going to happen this year. The OL needs more help, and a 420lb  bohemouth on the practice squad will certainly make Cam run for his life,  But  an easy completion on the other end  is not what hes going to see on Sunday.

So get to it panthers.

Don't forget oline or WR. Don't get me wrong we can continue going all in on defense. Just don't complain when we only have 7 points

my sentiment is that a great QB can make ANY WR look good.. ie Tom Brady.     You make the QB practice against the best defense, with the worst WRs, and then one day when he  has a decent WR, magic happens... I dont think this will be a playoff season.  Id rather spend it maturing cam some more and   field a better offense next year.

Is that why Tom Brady posted a 76.4 passer rating, completing only 55% of his passes and damn near lost to the bills? He sure made those nobodies look great. If Amendola doesn't come back they probably lose that game.

Hernandez is in Jail

Gronk is out

Amendola is out.

I love me some Tom Brady but even Matt Cassel went 11-5 in that offense. He still Has Bill and Josh Mcdaniels. We are about to find out how good he really is with nobody to throw to.

If we can get Nicks or another solid WR in FA that would help us address OL and CB in the draft tremendously. Thankfully that's Gettleman's declared strategy and we don't have to worry about him trying to fill starter holes in the 4th round.

"Hmmm, let's see...we've got this huge hole at corner and no starter. And I didn't fill this in free agency so with the 108th pick in the draft I'm going to take some guy coming off a serious injury from Tallulah state. Problem solved"

    • This And with possibly needing to replace Bryce next year and a deep QB class, I do not hate the idea of moving far enough back to pick up another 1st rounder next year out of the deal. I wouldn't have said that a week ago, but I also never expected us to land 3 big FA's at our 3 biggest positions of need like we have, it totally changes things.
    • The OL has certainly been better than the trainwreck it was three or four years ago. As far as competitiveness let's apply some realism and clarity here. Quite a bit of the competitiveness in 2025 came from the defensive side of the ball which gave up the most points in league history the year before and was one of the bottom 5 units in terms of salary cap allocation for 2025 while the OL was top 3. We had the 26th passing offense last year. And if not for a herculean couple of games from Rico Dowdle we don't back our way into the division title or make the playoffs because we went 4-6 in our final ten games including being swept by the Saints who were starting a rookie 2nd round pick most of us mercilessly mocked when they selected him. In conclusion yes we've seen a difference. The question now is will the investment pay off the way we want. But the only way that happens is if we field a top 15 offense. If we can't even crack the top 20 then there need to be some very warm seats across the board. And I would hope just about anyone here should agree with that.
    • These Spurs are lowkey loaded.  If healthy, they could win it all this year (#2 in the West right now). I still think we’ve gotta keep Kalk on Wemby; he’s not getting completely dominated like every other NBA center.
