So they cut the guy that they slated to be the starter because they had faith in a guy that they wouldn't start... hmmm

They cut him because he wasn't very good. He's already bounced off his ceiling and was a stopgap. The young guys still have room for improvement and a future, arguably. It's not real hard to see why they made the decision.
