What a difference a D makes: Mitchell and White

I am not an expert on DBs and TV is not the best way to analyze them, however, I would like to share my opinions and see what others have to say--

Melvin White:  I heard about him during OTAs, but then he was cut and placed on the PS.  I figured he was raw and a step slow.  However, this guy could be a steal.  While Norman (in preseason) got a bit lucky, White created his luck.  On the interception, he was to release his man to the safety.  He did, but he turned his head inside and saw that Cruz had a step on Munnerlyn and jumped that route.  Cruz never saw him coming, Manning never saw him coming.  It was instinctive.  He took a good angle too.  It was a veteran play.  Later, he caused a fumble.  White will never look back.  He is going to be a starter here for a while.

Mike Mitchell:  Wasn't it nice to have a physical FS with speed?  Mitchell can move.  I was surprised to see help over the top that was not 2 steps too late. His hitting was awesome.  I was shocked, but it is very possible that he was the biggest difference in the secondary.  Mitchell has a bit to learn, but I will say that I was more impressed with his FS play than his SS effort.

Did we find 2 gems?  Was the rash of injuries a blessing in disguise?  Now imagine when Mikell comes back at SS and Thomas returns to CB.

Mitchell could of had a pick if he wasn't so focused on decapitating people...

Mitchell is going to cost us a 15 yarder and automatic first down.

Mitchell is going to get fined sooner or later.

WR are also going to drop some balls that they normally would catch because they don't know when Mitchell is going to lay some wood.

Guess you take the good with the bad when he is on the field.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought Melvin made the final 53 and was never cut? Regardless, really excited about these two but there will be growing pains in the future somewhere down the road.

You and Rum are correct.  I think I had Lester in mind.

At FS he was better.  Yes, he will make us mad, but he was a Raider and it takes a while to get that mindset out of your head.  Thtey are working on him.

What a hitter.  A FS who runs a sub 4.5 and can lay the wood.

true but a part of me also likes that recievers are gonna be aware of him and hear footsteps.

now i want the pick and i don't want him to cost us penalty yardage but there is something to be said about striking fear in opponents in our secondary, especially with this front 7 we have.

This happened yesterday.  Cruz came across the middle and Mitchell drilled him. Two plays later Cruz runs a deep slant and gets gator arms when Mitchell starts coming towards him leading to an incompletion.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
