Beason trade saves 705k in cap room

We are still on the hook for all of the dead money.

Get mad if you want but this is the truth.

His base salary is the only thing the Giants assume, - the 5 weeks we paid for.

For the record. The trade still makes sense simply because his contract was set to void at end of year anyway and was only going to be depth here for remainder of the year.

and the remaining conditional "games bonus" so it will equal more than that.

Since you've obviously already looked at his details, can you fill me in on how much dead money we're talking about?

I'm guessing it has to be pretty substantial based on his old contract/signing bonus.

Wish Beason the best, but his extension got the worst return on investment of any Hurney gave out. Maybe he can get healthy and contribute, but hes had a long time to get back and he just cant.

Still has the will but not the body. Getting something for him was a good deal.

Low risk for the Giants on the remote chance he can return to form. Good for everyone involved

4 million counted against this year, 8 million next year.....no different than if he remained on the roster thru end of year.

Only difference is we get to carry over that 705k in unused space into next year.

This is how I understand it, so if I am wrong I will update this post when a legit source breaks it down

People need to understand this was a good move since it was obvious Beason wasnt going to start unless there were injuries.

Beason was not going to be a Panther next year. This saves us a small amount of money this year but does nothing about the bonus money due next year (8M dead money). Panthers were going to pay either way. Thanks Hurney.

We get a 7th rounder- for a backup that would be gone next year regardless. Good deal.

Gives Beason a chance to prove himself at MLB if possible, which seems unlikely. Panthers gave him every opportunity to show he was capable and he couldn't. Big reason we lost first 2 games
