We are who we thought we were?

I went into this season expecting it to be mediocre and it is exactly what I thought it would be. Who was expecting it to be different? What would give you such an idea? I think a few things need to be realized.. I am so fuging pissed at 60% of you guys.

Newton just had the worst game of his career but, on 2 of his 3 picks he was hit as he threw the ball *No OL* What did you expect from Newton? he has nobody to guard him, nobody to throw too and a OC that is playing to his disadvantages.

There is even a thread about how we need to move on from Kuechly, seriously.. Some of you have no fuging idea what you are talking about.

This team isn't going anywhere until Rivera is canned, does anyone think it's a coincidence that we had a terrible Secondary but when they all got hurt our backups and PS players looked like a decent squad? Not only can Rivera not game plan, he can't even set a roster correctly, he doesn't even know who should be starting, fug him.

This coaching staff is trash, we are going to lose this year a lot, a whole fuging lot, so get used to it. It will find ways to lose in the easiest of games.

But, without fail we will somehow manage to win our last 5 games once we are eliminated from the playoffs.

I think the way Gettleman played Munnerlyn this offseason gives me hope for the future. I think our GM has a clue:

Gettleman: "captain here's a small multi year deal. This is what you're worth"

Captain: "I wanna see what else I can find in FA"

Gettleman: "ok I'll wait..."

(0 offers come in).....lol

Captain: "ok let's do this deal"

Gettleman: "nah. U can have a 1 yr minimum deal now. Sorry"

We will finish 2nd in the division for the 2nd straight year

Rivera will be able to claim his team improved every year under his watch

We finish at 8-8

Rivera will be fired

Gettlemen hires someone from the NY defensive coaching tree

Ron easily finds a DC job and has a dominate D somewhere

Yes this season is going exactly as I expected it.  Why should any of us have expected any different?  As Albert Einstein once said, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.

Why the hell is this team still fielding a 5' 8" midget corner who gets beat constantly as a starting corner? Explain that to me.

He's physically outmatched every play. It's painful to watch. His arms are so short too. It's a head scratcher for sure.....

.....Sigh.....

You're being optimistic, CRA. I see 6-10 at best currently

I'm not an optimistic. More of a realist....some claim pessimist.

Football is about matchups. It is why I don't really change my views on a weekly basis. I said going in Buff was a tough matchup, NY was a good matchup for us and AZ was a bad matchup for our O.

We still have plenty of teams we will matchup well against. Plenty of talent. This team doesn't quit. Cam regardless of what some think is showing improvement in aspects.....it will show more when we have better matchups for us.

if we hire someone from the Giants I will most likely be forced to burn down Bank of America Stadium.

I agree Fug on several points.  Though, the Kuechely thing is more of a joke.

I was optimistic, absolutely, before the season.  After Seattle, I still was.  After Buffalo, I was down, but hoping we could right the ship, but the negatives started to emerge personally.  After the Giants, I was thinking we'd turned a corner.  A good beat down to ride some momentum into the bye (which sucked the energy out of the team).

Sunday, we all saw the same old Panthers.  While everyone had a very sizable portion of blame, I don't hang it all on Rivera and Cam.  There were drops, stupid penalties, and bonehead decisions by the players.  There were some bad play calls, poor planning and adjustments.  Over all, this was a whole team loss.  Our D played really well until they were just gassed, and probably emotionally spent.

I'm with CRA as well, we're not that terrible.  We do have some real weaknesses, but we're going to beat some teams and lay some more eggs.  I think in late November and December, we're going to again have a winning record, come to a some what decent record.  I also think we have the opportunity to turn it around (here goes that optimism again!).  We could still be 5-3 by mid season.

I just won't let the Panthers fool me though.  Nothing is worse as the years go by, to have some hope (1st half) only to have it poo-canned down the street (2nd half).  I will enjoy the games for what they are worth, but I'm not going to allow the Panthers' performance to ruin my Sundays.  I have a job for that!  I fully expect the Panthers to play some good ball, screw it up, and over all miss the playoffs by 2 games.

    • It's not sustainable,  although he deserve credit for the win also, as he made clutch plays as he does with every win we have.
    • As much as I would love to sit here and bash on Young.  I can't.   He is absolutely a part of this team winning.  He is the cool hand leading the offense along with the hammer, Rico.  He's making plays on 3rd and 4th downs, that are absolutely helping thus team win.  Is Bryce playing as well as we'd like? Nope. Although he had only 1 week off from a high ankle sprain.   No question he was 100% in the Greenbay game.  I'm not even sure where the team would find a clear upgrade over Byrce.  He is a leader.  In the 4th quarter, he has ice in his veins.  He is a part of why our team is enjoyable to watch again.  Without him, we wouldn't be winning.    Anyways.  Y'all enjoy yet another thread designed to tear down the man.
    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
