Ok people, I want to take a sec and focus on Mike Tolbert

 

Last year, I'll admit it seemed to be a slow start initially but once we started including him in the game plan more and actually had set plays for him to work with, we had a lot of our wins. I'm not saying one change can get us winning but this seems like an obvious player to include more in our plans.    

 

Feel free to check out this game log below and also think about those games.  At the end of the day, he's one of our best chain movers on offense.  He's a bowling ball capable of running and catching.  

 

Beyond Ginn & Olsen right now and given Smitty's aging deal, this guy needs to be used more.  

 

I mentioned in another thread he had 39 targets last season.  He has *5 through 4 games.

I think Tolbert benefits from being the third running back. A change of pace from both DWill and JStew. However, this season he hasn't had the change to make a real difference because of stew being out bs Barner being a non factor.

Also, letting Shockey walk so we could sign. Tolbert to fi the hole of a 2ns TE was one of the dumbest things this team has ever done.

When your O line can't block, someone needs to stay back in pass protection.

I guess we could run a wishbone, with Brockel, Hartsock and Tolbert in the backfield with Cam. That would allow the D to double both Smitty and Olsen.

Bottom line: bad O line + worse OC = players not reaching potential

fair point.  The OL is just killing us no matter who we have at OC and we happen to have a bad OC haha

Basically disagree

 

1) He is well ahead of pace in carries and yards this year compared to last

2) His receiving has always been spotty. He will have plenty of 0 and 1 reception games and then a few 3 and 4. He will probably get a few higher reception games.

 

If anything we are utilizing him more based on total plays and touches. Catches for a player in his role will come and go.

 

Also he has 5 targets this year with 4 receptions

      Watching Williams last night, guy has an arm and nfl ability  i see no future with Young.  either a player has nfl ability or they dont  cant survive on 20 or less points a game

      Fowler: Bucs 23, Panthers 16. Baker Mayfield only won a single game when he was an unimpressive Carolina starter, but somehow he’s 5-0 when playing AGAINST the Panthers. For the Panthers to pull off this upset, they’ll need to score at least in the mid-20s. With Tampa Bay relatively healthy following a mini-bye (and Mike Evans’ return is huge), it feels like this will be too tough a task. Kaye: Bucs 24, Panthers 20. The win-loss-win-loss streak comes to an end. It’s hard to trust the play-calling following the loss to the New Orleans Saints.       Sam developed into a different player after he mostly sat for a year and learned a ton by being in that QB room under Shannahan in San Francisco.  Then he went to the Vikings who have a poo load of talent and another genius level offensive mind at HC in Kevin O Connel. I think they genuinely built up his confidence in a way he never did in New York or Charlotte.  He would not have been the same player if he stayed here IMO. Especially if he had been involved in that disaster season with Frank Reich in 2023, that might have cooked his confidence for good.  I guess you could argue we wouldn't have been that bad if we also kept cmc and dj i guess.
