Get Cam Newton out your mouth, Mike Bellotti (just another opinion is all)

Look what former Ducks coach said.

Now, Newton has erupted over the last three weeks, re-establishing himself as one of the most talented young signal-callers in the NFL. But former Oregon head coach Mike Bellotti, now an analyst for ESPN, says he thinks current Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota will be better than Newton at the next level.

Bellotti said Mariota is a "better student of the game" than Newton, and that Newton -- a 6-foot-5 and 245-pound physical marvel who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.58 seconds at the combine -- has been able to rely on his natural gifts to get by.

"Cam has never had to work as hard, and I think he is finally now starting to get it and spend time in the classroom with the coaches," Bellotti said. "A lot of things come really easy to Cam. I think he still thinks he can just go out there and do it.

Depending on one's perspective, this is actually a good thing. Cam must be doing something right (even though Bellotti doesn't fully realize it).

How the hell would this guy know ANYTHING about how much time Cam puts in studying film, the playbook, working with coaches, etc.?  Seems I recall hearing Cam had a pretty damn good work ethic.  He even went over film with his father and brother in the off-season to address his sideline demeanor.

You know what they say opinions are like...and everybody has one...and sometimes they stink.

    • Unmm yeah Im looking for the quote were she said he hated to be here. Because your alt keeps saying she did, and acting like not wanting to be a part of that dumpster fire makes you a villain lol. Here is the interview BTW she doesn't say that at all.  https://www.audacy.com/espn1320/sports/nfl/lisa-mccaffrey-details-family-emotions-of-christians-trade
    • https://russianmachineneverbreaks.com/2025/07/11/dmitry-orlov-excited-fresh-start-sharks-disappointed-bottom-pairing-role-hurricanes/   This is kind of hilarious, well maybe Dimitri if you weren't a turnover machine and actually played defense you would have gotten more minutes.
    • His mom did an interview within the 48 hours after the trade and basically said his entire family was relieved. His father also has long ties to that area. They wanted him there. He wanted to be there. It is what it is. No sense trying to spin it. There's plenty of room on the Niners bandwagon big dawg.
