BY law you shouldn't even be making sports bets unless you are in a state that allows it. Hey IRS let me pay you taxes...but dont ask why. Now if I win on the sports bet I made in Vegas there will be taxes that need to be paid.

Doesn't work like this and I assume you aren't an online gambler.

 

Online players will tell you to a man that you are a moron if you don't pay your taxes (unless you are talking extremely small stakes). They all keep meticulous records if there are any material bets going on.

 

1) While it is technically illegal in some states to place wagers this never prosecuted. It is probably more dangerous to jaywalk. And only a few states actually have anti-online gambling laws.  

 

2) The IRS aggressively prosecutes tax fraud. The gentleman above will be depositing a check for $150k into a US bank and that will not be missed in an audit. He will probably go to jail if he gets caught.

ive never kept more than $1000 in bovada at anyone time...im small stakes and generally have a net gain/loss of 0. interesting.
