The win yesterday gave me confidence this team will not fold down the stretch.  I am not prone to hyperbole or unwarranted optimism given everything that has transpired over the past 5 years (and really the entire history of the Panthers), but yesterday was a seminal moment (a la Panthers/ Bucs Week 2 2003) that this season is going to be special.

so did half this board

I certainly thought about the Buffalo game that a 6 win season was a distinct possibility.  Still a reminder of how far this team has come over the past month and a half and how special this season can be given the expectations the national media set.

Around the Horn!

Little Aisian Guy has it right.

Other dudes seems to be making excuses for Kaepernick with lack of weapons

Then one guy says our offense doesn't cut it. only scored 3 points in the second half. "Look at what drew brees did last night!" "Look at what russel Wilson did against Atlanta!" "Gotta have offense if you wana be elite"

WTF?!! Uh we put up 34 on Atlanta dumbass. And Brees played the cowboys defense IN THE DOME. Didn't someone else put up 50 on the boys?

holy poo man these dumb fugers

12-4

We lost 6 games last year by less than 7 points.  Two years ago we lost 5 more games  by less than 7 points.  If we maintain status quo and not get any better on offense, our defense is much improved (hopefully).   We played a lot of cover 3 because we had to bring the safety in the box because of our bad run defense.   Now we will be able to play more straight cover 2 along with hybrid defenses that will give the ability to hopefully cover the tight ends (ie tony gonzalez, graham) who have been killing us.  Also look at how much longer plays were extended by Brees and Ryan just by being able to step up in the pocket.  We will win at least 12 games.

Yeah I just watched this too. J.A. Adande is a basketball guy, I wouldn't take anything he says about football seriously.

But now ill wait for PTI and see what Kornheiser and Wilbon have to say.

Well Said.  I also heard some national media saying today, that, Cam is winning because of the defense, when not so long ago, that the Panthers were losing because of Cam.  Ya can't have it both ways boys!  The medias opionions simply cant be taken seriously and they definitely aren't anymore of an expert than the common huddler on here.  They are "reactionaries".

Don't watch much ESPN, but the dark guy said he likes us over the Saints I think.

Those who say they want to see what we do against the Pats and Saints aren't out of their mind. its fair. We definitely have an opportunity and I think we get it done.

    • Jamaree Salyer would be an excellent signing. I hope we are looking at him.
    • The Panthers are Pickett's 5th team in 5 years. Howell's next team will be his 5th. I don't think the league thinks that much of either of them. They're just warm bodies, at this point.
    • 10 players I wouldn't mind the Panthers signing that are still available:  - CB Nate Hobbs (Packers): Was just released this morning. Could be a very solid nickel upgrade for us.  - CB Kader Kohou (Dolphins): Solid slot corner who shouldn't break the bank and could be an upgrade over Chau Smith-Wade.  - OT Jamaree Salyer (Chargers): Had an underrated year with the Chargers (68.2 PFF pass block grade, 61.5 run block grade) and is still young enough (25) to continue developing.  - OT Jawaan Taylor (Chiefs): Depending on price, could be a good short-term option at LT while we figure things out long-term.  - WR Jauan Jennings (49ers): If we're going to add a FA receiver, I think Jennings makes a lot of sense but the price may be a bit too high for a slot receiver.  - WR John Metchie III (Jets): A cheaper option at slot receiver who has experience playing with Bryce at Alabama. Low risk/high reward type signing.  - WR Calvin Austin III (Steelers): Likely an "in between" option relative to Jennings and Metchie, but another solid option in the slot.  - LB Leo Chenal (Chiefs): I think we'll target another starting ILB in the draft, but we could also opt to pair Chenal with Devin Lloyd and check that need off the list early.  - OC Matt Hennessy (49ers): Could be a decent stop-gap starter at center and solid depth if nothing else.  - OC Andre James (Chargers): Was a backup last year for the Chargers (for some reason; he couldn't have been worse than what they had starting) but was solid for the Raiders the year before.
