Much More Confident About NE Than SF

Recommended Posts

Anyone else feel the same way? I think we match up much better against the Pats than San Fran.

We're at home, they have a worse offensive line, a worse defense, a better QB but largely incapable wideouts, a slightly better running game if you factor in all the backs, but we're better against the run regardless.

I honestly thought that the Niners had a better chance at winning that last game than we did, but I seriously think we have a much higher chance against the Pats than they have against us.

This isn't thread worthy really, but I just wanted to exude my confidence onto the rest of my less-confident counterparts.

Keep Pounding, nation!! Let's lock in that W!!

I'm way less confident in this game.  The reason the Panthers were able to beat the 49ers (besides luck - those fumbles could have gone either way) was because Kaepernick is just straight up not a very good QB.  The many articles published after the game showed he's a one-read QB.  When you take that read away, he either has to scramble or take the sack and that's exactly what happened.  Tom Brady is a HOF QB.  He will not be surprised by anything the Panthers are doing and if something isn't working, he's smart enough to change to something that works.  He'll be able to put up points, regardless of how good the Panthers D has been playing, so the pressure will be on Cam and the offense to score enough to stay ahead of Brady.  If they can get ahead early and run the ball, I could see a win.  If they fall behind early, it could get ugly.  This is a tough game.

I felt worse about this game than the SF game.

Brady has the ability to exploit our secondary.  The SF offense was run oriented and that played to our strength.  The Pats offense is much better than the Niners offense.

Now that being said, I believe we can run and score on the Pats.

Getting in a shootout with Brady worries me.

New England's offense is not the scoring machine that it once was.  Outside the Steelers game (and the Steelers are GOD AWFUL on defense), the NE offense has been very middle of the road.

They are only avg'ing 2 pts per game more than ours.

Pressure Brady and run the ball....and we will win.

If qb play is the deciding factor, then yes they have an advantage, but Brady doesn't have the weapons he used to. Our line is getting to the quarterback, and very few, if any, of the sacks are coverage sack. NE doesn't far well against the run. If we get Stewart and Tolbert going early, their defense will get tired and Williams will gash them later. A turnover or two won't be the end of the world as long as special teams and defense steps up. If the offense plays mistake free, we hit Brady early and often, and special teams plays like they have most of the season, we should win.

Yeah, I don't feel good about this match up. They've got weapons on offense and Brady is still a good QB. On paper, we should be able to thrash New England's D, especially since Mayo and Wilfork are on IR and Talib is wounded but paper isn't trustworthy. Either way, they're gonna stack the box. Dink-and-Dunk time.

Mitchell, Lester, Mikell, Florence, White and Munnerlyn are gonna have to play out of their minds again cuz I sense Brady and company will negate our pass rush. Kuechly and Davis can only do some much in coverage. So our secondary is gonna have to step up.

It is not their offensive weapons that scare me (they are mediocre)....nor even Brady's execution (he is playing just OK this seasoN) that scares me.....it is Belichik having 2 weeks to put in a scheme to counter our pass rush.  I still think we can get some pressure on Brady, but I do not expect to see a beat down like we gave Kaep.

I hate the guy...but he has a knack for coming up with something that works.

We must play disciplined defense....watch out for the screens and TE....and pound the rock on offense.  If we do these things (and I think we will) I believe we will win.

People seem to think we are going up against the Brady of the past, the MVP QB rating in the high 120s Brady.. But we arent. I bet most of you dont realize Cam's QB rating is about 15 pts higher than Brady's this year. They lost to the Jets and Bengals away and are 2-2 on the road. Sorry, San Fran was a much bigger challenge.

    • I miss many of the OGs like @ladypanther Zob had a bad off week and came in here to do some mopping and a couple of the 10 year 15k post account he just banned over a silly disagreement, just odd behavior from Zob. A Pessimal deal happened with Lady and others. I tired to find a new forum and could not get around the signing up part...same for discord. Its not perfect here by any means, but I still feel welcomed here for the most part and this place does have the most freedom. I hate how the right vs left BS nearly cooked this place, I still believe in removing the litterbox, toxic as hell and lollolols @ anyone coming into a team forum to talk about pointless politics of the uni party turds.  @Bear Hands you saved this place with your activity. It helped offset the lost of OGs and the knowledgeable that leftd.    It would help for new members and I do get the spammers deals, just got to mod them away and hope opening the door brings in fresh blood.
    • Young went to bama and Brissett went to nc state.
    • That seems about right. No higher than that for a bottom third qb with two years left, including one expensive year. He played well enough last year to show he is startable. It depends on whether other teams thought he has any upside left and whether he's been hindered by coaching and surrounding cast. I think most teams would answer no, but if they thought he could step it up just a little I could see trading a fourth or fifth for a bridge guy/top tier backup.
