Former Panther News

One former Panther and one 'almost' Panther have made a splash this week.

Former Panther backup Josh "Drago" McCown has looked pretty good in relief of an injured Jay Cutler, maybe good enough to get some sniffs from other teams next season.

And rookie QB Matt McGloin, who earned a minicamp tryout in Carolina, wound up getting both his first pro start and his first pro win for the Raiders this past Sunday, guiding the Raiders to a 28-23 win over the Texans (and looking pretty good in the process).

Word out of New Orleans that the Saints gave former Panthers corner D J Moore a tryout in the wake of the season ending injury to Jabari Greer.  Moore wasn't signed though.  The Saints instead chose to sign Corey White, a 5th round pick of theirs from 2012 who had previously been released.

And this final item: The season is over for everybody's favorite former Panther as the Browns are putting Armanti Edwards on IR due to an ankle injury.  Ironically enough, Darin gantt wrote on PFT that Edwards "will have to wait until next preseason to impress again" (link)

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
