Salty Dolphins are Salty

I was over on one of the Phins websites, I saw that they couldn't get over the Kuechly flag that was picked up... So I tried to explain why I thought it wasn't helmet to helmet using physics..

I showed them this gif.

I said something along the lines of..

"if this play was helmet to helmet contact, both Kuechly and Matthews neck would have snapped back. Kuechlys didn't move. Rishard Matthews helmet went forward, why? because he was hit in the chest with a forearm. Because the blow was to the upper/middle part of his body it caused his neck to snap forward."

I could of be wrong, it might be helmet to helmet, I figured I'd just try and explain why I thought it was a clean hit from a standpoint using physics. I got this PM moments later..

Salty much? There are about 5 threads on all the Dolphins websites claiming how this lost them the game.. Normally I wouldn't give a single fug but, I find it to be hilarious.

In all seriousness did my explanation come off as trolling? All these fans were super nice until they lost.

With the instant replay, the refs could tell that Luke Keuchely is a BAMF....4th down!

Luke hit him in the helmet, evidenced by the receiver's head twisting to his right at the moment of initial contact, but I'm not a fan of the way the rule is administered.  I think situations like this one, where the bulk of the blow to a moving target is delivered with the forearm of shoulder to the body, should not be a penalty.  In comparison, Wake's hit diving straight into Cam's chin while Cam was a stationary target and then dragging him down well after the ball was gone should have been a penalty, and I would support that against Panthers defenders as well.

The rule is terrible. I feel that 90% of the helmet to helmet calls are unavoidable or in accident.

Wake on the other hand....

The NFL has a few guys who are dirty headhunters like Meriweather, but I'd like to believe that most guys aren't out to intentionally drill folks in the head.

Saltier than a Miami hooker after visiting the Miami Hurricanes team dorms are Dolphins fans. They get 2/3 of questionable calls in their favor and honestly some of the worst ball spotting I've seen in a while against us, yet they still think a chest/forearm hit by Kuechly was the bad call and decided the entire game. I'm fair in my judgement of calls and if they didn't pick up that flag on Kuechly it would be just as bad as the penalty they called on him with his hit on Aaron Mellette in the pre-season.
