Forget about setting up those kegs or buffet tables in the parking lot before this season's Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium. There will be no tailgating, according to the game's committee CEO, Al Kelly.

"You will be allowed to have food in your car and have drink in your car," Kelly said. "And provided you're in the boundaries of a single parking space, you'll be able to eat or drink right next to your car. However, you're not going to be able to take out a lounge chair, you're not going to be able to take out a grill, and you're not going to be able to take up more than one parking space. And it'll all be watched very carefully."

Are you fugging kidding me?!?!?

embarrassing really!

guess the good thing is that the league has priced these tickets beyond the reach of most average football fans and the corporate fugs wouldn't know a tailgate if it slammed them in the face, so no big loss to anyone.  No tailgate means more limo parking.

So, pretty much, the only point in going that Sunday will be just to be in the stadium for the event itself. It's not a day long spectacle and fun event. Oh no, instead, it's a performance that they're charging way too much for attendance for and that's it. Guarantee they'll say "no cheering allowed" sometime in the next 10 years.

The NFL in the past 10 years has just been fuging pathetic.

This is the sad truth.  Even if you did go all out and buy a couple of tickets you would most likely be eating Taco Bell at your tailgate.

    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
