GREAT article on Cam: "Don't Call It Redemption"

Haven't seen him mentioned in here before that, unless I missed it.

Also, footballisasport isn't exactly someone I would really listen to on this.

Mentioned once by Pantherbrew, who stated he doesn't believe the hype because of the similarities to Cam's treatment

Once by footballisasport, whose response was predictable and retarded like I was describing in that other post. And it's not just him who is guilty of it.

I've seen numerous people pile on Griffin here, I don't agree with it, but it's really no different than the other teams fans who pile on Cam at every opportunity. It's going to happen no matter what anyone else says. I get that you obviously have an ax to grind here. Meh.

Seems to me the media could give two shakes of a rat's ass about Carolina.

Carolina obliged by not giving them a reason too, or famously collapsing on the big stage.

The media regurgitates the same old stories over and over and over again because that's what they have.

No one wants to hear that Cam does charitable things, after all, nothing he could possibly do could outdo what The Golden Calf of Bristol or Wilson does because you know, Cam isn't sincere like the others.

Then there are the fans and media who refuse to embrace him and love him because they feel he loves himself enough.  He helped that along with the celebrations of Superman during not so Super moments.  That's past history of course, but the clips remain in the media and online forever.

I don't know what axe that is, I just reply when I'm quoted in a post most of the time. Obviously that's gonna happen a lot when I say something that isn't homer fuging simpson.

Oh, so we're all just blind homers then huh?

Well fuging excuse me for not using a picture of Russel Wilson, or Mike Glennon as my avatar the week we played their team.

I agree, he's the same player and person as he first got here. He's made improvements, but it's not like he was a pile of crap that had to be turned into a polished diamond like the media portrayed. I believe a lot of Cam's criticisms are racially charged. When Cam gets criticized for something that I see other QBs do, who by the way are all white, it's not that hard to see.

Cam's rookie year was a shocker to the media. It was a "oh poo, maybe my stereotypes are actually wrong!" moment. Hence why they built up RG3 so big. Which is another reason why I'm glad that whole situation is blowing up in all of their faces.

But it didn't stop them from trying to cover Cam's good play his 2nd year up by spewing the "sophomore slump" bullshit. They tried hard as hell to push that in order to cover their asses.

Even now you have some in the media trying to cover their ass about when they were wrong about all the criticism they gave Cam. They have to throw out the maturity card so that they can pretend Cam had to mature in order for them to praise him now.

Do you remember when Smitty called out Cam for sulking on the bench during a blowout? He said something like "Jimmy stands up and watches you play every single game, the least you could do is stop sulking and watch him finish the game out."

Is smitty also part of the big bad media in this situation?

Yeah, I remember that.

Ironic and funny considering that there are times where Smitty goes into sulking mode with the quickness.

Is Smitty considered "immature" now?

from the above article:

would you consider tom brady immature?

the link in that above quote leads to an article about old man brady from this season. here's the kicker on it....

when newton basically says he needed to improve in that department, according to many, that was an admission that he was immature. when brady says it, tho, what is it? brady admitting that he was immature? or was it just him acknowledging an area that he needed to improve on? and if it was that, how is it different than newton's confession?

People are such hypocrites. They do and say anything to "take care of my guy".

maturity is a slider on a scale, not an on/off switch

treat it as the former and you will be illuminated. treat it as the latter and you will remain conflicted in the dark

It's also something that is subject to individual metrics! And given the amount of individual opinions on this if cam spent all his time preoccupied with how his maturity was being perceived, it would be more counterproductive than talking about madden on the sideline for twenty seconds!

    • We agree here dawg. I'd love for Bryce to succeed as would all huddlers. I have not seen a single huddler hate Bryce for anything other than his play on the field / potential / skillset. He hasn't gotten any of the irrational hate having nothing to do with football that Cam got. And yeah I understood going into this season with Bryce again as there weren't a ton of options, but man we missed the fuging mark on upgrading at backup QB with someone who could actually push Bryce. Bryce had zero pressure on him with a 100% washed up Dalton being the only other NFL caliber QB in the system. That absolutely needs to change this offseason. Ideally with an actual starter upgrade but that seems extremely unlikely due to not having many FA options and a bad draft. But at the very least with someone like you mentioned, young/upside and/or day 3 pick in the draft.   Another note, we have a top paid and top performing OL, great young talent at WR incl. likely OROY, great RB group, average all around TE group, offensive coach with creativity in the system and good play designs (poor situational playcalling but still I put out current offensive coaching staff over Shula who held Cam back for instance). Not the absolute best situation for a QB to be in, but still a very good situation around him. And yet we have a bottom 8 offense (6th lowest points scored). Imagine taking a victory lap for a QB leading his team to the 6th lowest points scored in the league and the 22nd highest passer rating (despite being asked to do less than many other QBs; i.e. Bo Nix who isn't great either and has a slightly lower passer rating but Sean Payton actually lets him try to throw the ball deep and has him throw significantly more than Bryce). Crazy
    • similar to Atlanta and the NHL.  Atlanta has lost two NHL teams (and lost a minor leaguer).  Now there's another coalition pulling together another proposal for Atlanta to get an NHL expansion. While I'd like hockey to be back in Atlanta 'cause hockey is fun, I am skeptical that it'll happen based on previous teams' experience here alternatively: similar to Atlanta hosting a Major Tennis Tournament in advance of the US Open every mid/late summer.  Aside from the fact that Atlanta is said to be the country's largest Tennis playing city (with both USTA and ALTA, along with a number of side leagues) - playing tennis outdoors in Atlanta summer is miserable *and* they had difficulty attracting players... ticket sales were not good. So the Atlanta Open closed after 14 years.  They just couldn't make it happen, even if for all intents it appears to be massive tennis interest in the surrounding area.
    • So I saw where Luke was doing that show parallel to the game. Whatever it was, statcast something something, knew it would be a good watch. I don’t get ESPN any more but that would be one of the about few things I would watch outside of games.     He doesn’t fool around on the radio broadcast.
