I think its utterly ridiculous that the NFL *still* seeds suck-ass division winners

Higher than Wild Card teams who are better than them in the regular season.

There should be NO reward for sucking and playing in a division that sucks so bad that you STILL win it.

They should seriously look into a record based seeding. Having an 11-5 patriots team miss the playoffs while an 8-8 AFC West team in over them is a complete joke.

Same for a 7-9 Seatle team getting in.

If there isn't a reward for winning divisions they should ditch then entirely, and conferences too. If we can't win our division we don't deserve a guaranteed home game.

I am all for getting rid of divisions, but I think the better record should have the home field.  Dallas/Detroit/Philly/GB/Chicago should not be rewarded just because they play in crap divisions and Car/SF/NO do not.

The reward is you make the playoffs.  What is being discussed here is that teams with a better record should get a higher seed.

removing division-based playoff seeding would largely destroy compelling division rivalries.

Okay, let's say we theoretically remove division based seeding this year.  Which division rivalries would be impacted?  SF would still be fighting for a WC spot while Seattle runs away with the division.  Philly and Dallas would still be duking it out for the division and the only playoff spot from that division.  Carolina and New Orleans would still be duking it out for playoff seeding.

I honestly don't think it would have a bit of an impact on division rivalries.

    • yeah, I think XL gets comical fan hate at this point.   did he have some drops? Sure.  He was basically in the same ballpark as Worthy, Coleman, Mitchell, etc. of the same draft class.  Rookies.  Happens.  His career began on a team that had horrific QB play.  Improved to meh QB play.   And finished with a couple random "good" games graded on a Bryce curve.  And it was literally just a couple.  Games where Not sure what people expect to happen in that situation and Bryce isn't the naturally pairing in terms of play style for a WR like XL (which we all acknowledged when we drafted him).  I think XL leads the team in yards this year actually.  I think father time officially catches AT this year.  I think Tmac will have some legit growing pains (which is also fine).
    • Even if it's fluffed up, this team needs some confidence and optimism. I mean, look what happened to Bryce once he got his confidence back, he balled out. Sometimes if you just feel great about yourself, you'll play great.
    • Ayton would have been a nice get but I didn’t think it was really possible he would come here.  He is from Cali and seems to prefer that part of he country
